The Metropolitan city like Chandigarh and other mega & metro cities should approve building plans only with parking facilities within building premises. For others, underground parking facilities may be created in every Parks within or outside housing complexes and to be leased out to owners of car(s)for compulsory parking. Production of a clearance certificate from appropriate authority about availability of parking facility should be made mandatory while purchasing car(S).
In roads we should apply sensor system so that we can control the traffic on road.when we apply sensor on road,sensor will automatically send the information, of what is the density of vehicle at any time, to traffic signal so that according to vehicle density traffic signal will be on or off.thus there is no problem of traffic on road.
Ban parking of autos and vehicles near traffic lights. This creates big bottleneck. Visit traffic lights in from of Panjab University on sector 15 side to appreciate the problem
This is just pathetic. Administration should experiment with
1. parking systems available in developed world. Along the road paid parking systems, monitor-able and punishable. Experiment with selected roads and expand gradually.
2. Ban vehicles in the market but provide alternate free local solar/ battery operated vehicles to move about.
3. Mark movement path of all public transport vehicles like buses, autos etc, with place of parking..( observed at Geneva},
That's effective suggestion. How about car sharing or in general vehicle sharing ?
This in short will reduce number of private vehicles going from same location to same or on the way destinations.
Consider a single person going from A alone in a car to a destination Z. He can certainly share his car for the price of fuel or just a nominal fee for a drive. Now, before he reaches Z he has destinations X and Y on the way where he can drop anyone from his location or his closest location.
Following #ParkingSystem is suggested keeping in mind charisma of the city-
• parking rates should be dynamic and vary based on location, timing and festive occasions.
• automated multi-level parking (underground) at existing designated parking areas.
• automated multi-level parking beneath existing green parks in each sector. Mandatory for residents of that sector to park their vehicle. Parking slots allotted on monthly rental basis. The maximum number of slots be limited.

Parking is one aspect of cities traffic and road infrastructure. City parking space as well as roads gets congested in peak hours i.e. morning 9-11am and evening 5-9pm. Adding taxes on extra car will not serve the purpose as this will affect automobile industry. Why cant we have flexible office hours. For ex. if cities comprehensive traffic mobility plan is studied for city like mumbai then it is observed that most of the traffic flow is from north to south in morning hours and from south to north during evening. If we impose certain office timings for each sector or area in a city then the same traffic will be distributed throughout the day instead of peaking during morning and evening hours. considering 10 sectors in a city 3 sectors should compulsory have a office timing from 7am to 3pm, 4 should have from 9pm to 5pm and 3 should have from 11am to 7pm. this will decongest the traffic also extra widening of roads might not be required in current city infrastructure with minor changes we can sustain. Also power requirement will also be distributed through the day.
Parking problems might be solved completely though ppp model. Eg. Like building roads through the parking building. Such parking buld. can be built mainly on junctions, busy city roads etc. ground floor can be kept for cycles and for walking (no vehicles). Road can pass through 1st / 2nd floor depending on area conditions and above that may be atleast 10 floors for paid parking. Pvt. players under ppp model can collect parking charge to recover their cost just like tolls on road... See image
Shopkeepers of any sector specially busy like sec35,22,8,9,26 etc should be given seperate parking space away from the market. Only customers paying full parking charges should be allowed to park vehicles in the market vicinity. Smart cards for parking can be issued for each entry charges, monthly concessional charges for one market and for multi entry seperately. Market parking should be reserved for customers paying full parking charges. Govt vehicles should also pay for various security
