As govt is working on stopping use of liquor and tobacco by increasing the prices. The demand of the products is going low which is a good thing but the revenue earned from these is very huge and somehow decrease with time. So govt needs fund for development.
If we increase petrol prices is We charge double from customers . automatically the use of petrol vehicles will be less. And if people won't listen and keep using petrol vehicles it will add in govts revenue and the money will be used for

All the vehicles should bought on cash and carry basis no EMI should be allowed
Purchase of vehicles should be done through bank transaction only
No bunk should fill the petrol/diesel above 100 for private vehicles
remove subsidy on petrol and diesel to those who are filling more than 200
All the ministers should travel on special buses for once in a weak which should motivate the people to do so

If one day in a week is made no subsidy day for petrol and diesel but public vehicles get fuel on that day at less rate thus as the rate of petrol will be higher for general public and rate they need to pay for public vehicles will be less thus they will switch to public vehicles.

I think we should make an organisation at our society/ local level for promoting masses to avoid vehicles.. or this work can be done by welfare societies in particular areas.Welfare society or organisation should involve young generation. They should organise various awareness competitions which everyone find interesting, in their society, atleast once in week.

I am a teacher. I think that we can organize Parents-Teachers Meeting and we can make them aware as how they can save petrol by means of different ways like they can use bicycle to visit nearby places like market, temple, neighboring houses etc. Once a weak they can observe Resting Day for their vehicles run on petrol and diesel. Or they can go on a walk at walkable distances so that it will be an exercise for them
