Stamps collection is an unique art. It helps not only to learn about a country and its culture and traditions but also helps to get some good friends and exchange different kinds of stamps. Stamps collection helps a lot to know many unknown things. Segregating them and making an Album countries wise is a biggest task. It needs lots of patience and planning. I have been collecting stamps for many years and still I'm looking out for some rare and beautiful stamps from various countries. Learning about stamp's size, design, shape and texture will be interesting. Some scented stamps are unique. Stamps with wild animals, birds, flowers will be very colourful and mind blowing. Parents should encourage stamps collection among their kids and help them to get stamps, organise them and display them neatly. Protecting & preserving all the stamps is a biggest challenge. Once a Stamps Album is made the happiness one gets out of it cannot be described in words. This is such a beautiful hobby.
The world's first stamp was released by England in the year 1840. Hence, it had not country's name and even today England release stamps without their country's name but contains only photo of their Kings/Queen. Since then many countries started releasing their stamps with their country's name and themes. Hence we can stamps are a medium to showcase their country's uniqueness and hence it is a medium of knowledge on various topics. Stamps depicts lifestyle and activities of human beings across the world. Indian stamps highlights India's pride, heritage, culture, etc. The basic design of stamps are done by world class designer artists and photographers and hence stamps are a masterpiece by themselves. Collection of stamps is not costly as we can collect stamps through our parents, friends and relatives from foreign countries also. Hobby of stamp collection can be practiced by young and old. School going children can gain knowledge on culture, history, science, environment, plants, etc.
We the Indian s are having the hobby to collect stamps from the childhood,as I remember when the post comes to the doorstep we were not looking what matter inside, but on the top of the cover which stamp is there to remove n keep it aside.now what happens whenever visit the Post office usually will ask for new stamps n covers .The enthusiasm and curious is not there now . stamps collection is to know about the person what he /she achieved in their particular field n specialisation and Government of India gives an honour to such people who were able to connect people thru there inspirational formulas, equations, like Ramanujam (mathematician) which benefits for the knowledge work,it's not the particular field to honour whoever touches the hearts of India they desire to get this great honour from the government. we have to show our next
generation that collecting stamps in a systematic way like sticking the stamps in an old books or in albums to look more attractive, knowledgeable,
Good morning sir,For everything online shopping has come...We have to take the photo of that good and sell it in online..like that why shouldn't we encourage the people of India to donate books for needy..second hand books...a NGO can do this work and the courier charges alone can be collected from the beneficiaries..
Stamp collecting is a fun and addictive hobby that explores history, geography, art and politics. It can be a therapeutic activity or an opportunity to meet likeminded people and join clubs and societies
stamps gives lots of knowledge like-
1) Indian currency starting from 1 "Anna" to now rupees
2) Gives information about the patriotic person and the work they did for independence, which motivates us with their inspirational thoughts and actions. And gives a glimpse of history knowledge as well.
3) Some special stamps which gov launches during festival vacation gives us information about the different festivals held in our diversified nation like India.
So that we know our festival and rituals very well like Diwali, holi, Pongal, onam, bihu.
It also proves the importance of harvesting.
4) It gives the knowledge of how letters are important before the existence of mobile phones in India and how to attach stamps on letters.
Some political letters also kept , which are the evident proofs those times.
5) Gifting stamps in the form of frame is the new trend, we recently had one which shows the images of our god's and goddess , they also tells stories in Ramayan and Mahabharat.
According to me Stamp collecting can benefit someone in many ways. Some of them are given below :
1.) Improving creativity: Collecting stamps can help you develop your creative skills by encouraging you to find unique ways to display and organize your stamps. For example, you can create a scrapbook, a collage, or a shadow box to showcase your stamps.
2.)Knowledge of heritage and culture: Stamp collecting provides a window into the history, culture, and heritage of different countries and societies. Each stamp has its own story to tell, and by studying the images, designs, and historical context, you can gain a deeper understanding of the world around you.
3.)Cultural exchange: Collecting stamps can also help you connect with people from other cultures and countries. You can join stamp collecting clubs, attend stamp shows, or participate in online forums to connect with others who share your passion. This can help you learn about different perspectives, traditions, and ways of life.
Since my school days, I started to collect stamps. Now I realise- a Stamp is not just a part of the postage; but, a small travelling museum that records our History, Tradition, Culture etc. Apart from that, it holds various informations on personalities (freedom fighters, scientists, social reformers, athletes ec), lifestyle, Govt schemes and so on. As a stamp collector and as a History student, I know the importance of the Stamp Collection and I feel proud for preserving all these unique antiques.
A hobby club should start in every school as a part of its curriculum.. This will help students make their creativity from the beginning.. stamp collection, coin collection, feather, different leafs, stones etc etc and childrens can submit details of what they done as a small project work every year and give a extra talent points to them.. this will help to use their time in better way
