The government must also control the illegal purchasing of tickets by travel agents, who book huge amount of seats and take a good commission from passengers for tickets. Because of travel agents the trains become short of seat and desirable people are not able to get tickets. The travel agents must only be appointed by government, available to people free of cost to book tickets or check availability.
There must be some system so that people may be able to choose the seat of their choice. Like simple if-else condition may be applied in software for allotment of seat-
If(age>=60) Alott Lower berth
else If(seats reserved together) Alott seats in same coach together
else if (seat preference= lower||upper) Check for availability if availabe then book else show the message.
This can be done by very simple programming. I can make the software for railway reservation system.
Allotment of seats in railway must use some sort of algorithm like while booking seats sometimes people are alloted seats in different coaches which creates problem. So, if people are booking tickets together then seats must be alloted in atleast same coaches.
I sincerely feel introduction of smart card system in unreserved tickets is one of the ideal ways.
The money can be loaded to the card by net backing or mobile banking. This would eliminate long queues, The entry and exit scan by the system will determine the fare of travel. These are efficiently being used in Metro trains in Delhi, Bangalore etc.
You go to any railway station, there is a large Que for getting tickets for unreserved tickets. The ticket issuing people are very slow. They do not have proper ventilation and air. The people who stand in que are sweating. The price of tickets should be Rs.5, Rs.10, Rs.15 etc. not 11, 12, 13, 17 .
Railways should tie-up with banks so that you can take ticket from an ATM by paying 1% extra(minimum 1 rupee). Railway can provide free of cost spaces to Banks for setup of ATMs at stations.
Ticketing system is good. yes it would be more better after giving a option of ticketing like Metros. slowly-2 it will take place like e-ticket.
Ticket checker or tte should have a scanner and tablet based ticket checking system where checkd ticket can be marked in centerilsed server and train occupancy can be seen by anywhere in india through its official website , as well as train guard,rpf staff should also providing special computerised power system where any kind of grivence notified by passanger can be processsd to releted in the journey no written work required
Debit or credit card based ticket vending machine with QR CODED printing based system should be maintained by all station at all zones in indian railways, tickets should also be provided at point of sale based (POS) That with shopping person can also buy a ticket, on mobile no is mandatory in all case , waitlist n rac should be centerlised server based where while in between journey waitlist clearing can be managed by computerised SMS MSG OR PHONE CALL ivrs, can get information ,
