I really appreciate this mission for making toilets to keep our locality clean but I would emphasize one more point that Indian style toilets must be preferred as compared to western style in all public places as they are much hygienic when used in public and also still many people in India don't know how to use western style toilet, so they are left unusable after a use. Also, in schools Indian style toilet is much more comfortable for small children.

I think it can go a long way to create swachhta by creating toilet facilities alongside all the toll bridges in India. during our recent drive from Himachal to Delhi, we must have crossed about 5/6 toll bridges, and during this journey of about 7 Hrs., we must have made 2/3 convenience stops. For us men it was not difficult, but there was no option for the ladies with us. It could be made mandatory to have toilet facilities alongside all toll bridges, and toll could be increased by a 1/2 rupees.

dand maha dand. youth can be used as volunteers to fine people. they can make pocket money. and rest of the money can go to govt. which can be used for waste disposal.
ask them to just click picture while doing untidy things. they report to magistrate not police. e challan machines can be used. two advantage
a)they can earn and learn and contribute.
b)fear of heavy fine.
c)money for waste management.

All changes start from home. So parents need to inculcate habit of cleanliness both domestic and social. They must tell their children that roads are not dustbins where they can through garbage and spit. Moreover, if they do so they will have to suffer first in terms of health then in terms of bad social image. I strongly believe that schools can play a very important role in it by making cleanliness a part of curriculum till class 8th. This way awareness can be brought about at mass level.

In fact one of the first studies on the economic losses caused by poor sanitation in India estimated it at Rs 2.4 trillion or $ 53.9 billion in 2006. It is much more than the foreign direct investments that flow into India each year or around half the annual remittances send by the millions of non resident Indians who swamp the globe. In fact the cost of poor hygiene for India would be as much as 6.4% of the GDP.
