In my view, the best way to do rainwater harvesting is to build low cost check dams. I have designed and built arc check dams (like Hoover dam) in Gujarat with less than 10% cost of government designed check dams. It is built from fly ash bricks with and dam has only 6" thickness. rain water harvesting is a need now. as of now rain water harvesting for house means a percolation pit. this method has various disadvantages. keeping in mind these point i have developed this simple method for household rainwater harvesting. please ask concerned officials to go through it and take the necessary steps. this will surely save our money, manpower and environment. looking for better tomorrow, better india with you.

I think we should stop water leakage. I have seen so many societies in urban areas especially are having water tanks & water pumps motor which overflows at least 40% if not 90 % times. Which is the big wastage of water. Engineers should give the solution to all those societies the best which is easy and cheap solution so that you can save good water. If the government do the search in each and every household & offices to check the leakage of water and give the best solution.

We need create a number of dams in various states to conserve water before rainy season starts. This should be used state of art technology and processes. This will give you both water and power. Also all the major dams across country should be connected through canals. State like Odisha have a lot of opportunities. We are lacking in the area of maintenance, inter-connectivity of management of those.

It is time to act the Gulf/Saudi way ... Sea water needs to be desalinated & pumped to the water scarcity areas, Otherwise their is no future of us. Govt. should immediately give the action plan on this. Maharashtra state has good coastal line & has good potential for installing desalination units.
