The State Transport Authority (STA), U.T., Chandigarh has initiated a citywide enforcement campaign against the illegal and pollution causing vehicles, especially diesel auto-rickshaws that had been plying in the city. This drive had been initiated in the entire city to take a firm step towards creating a pollution free environment in the city, keeping in mind the larger public health concerns of the residents.

As per the latest data submitted by the Chandigarh Pollution Control Committee (CPCC), there has been a significant decline in the various pollutants including SPM, RSPM, SO2, and NOx in various places of Chandigarh being monitored by CPCC over the past two weeks, ever since the drive was started by the State Transport Authority.

Meanwhile, to facilitate passenger movement, Chandigarh Administration is also strengthening its public transport system, by increasing the number & frequency of buses of the Chandigarh Transport Undertaking (CTU) and also enhancing their routes.

In view of this recent anti-pollution campaign of the State Transport Authority, Chandigarh Administration hereby invites citizens of Chandigarh to tell us what is their opinion about the banning of illegal and pollution causing diesel auto-rickshaws in Chandigarh. Further, suggestions/ideas are invited from the residents to help us ensure that a clean and pollution free air is provided in the City Beautiful.

Chandigarh - Vehicular pollution

1. Please do not ban all diesel autos, as it is a question of somebody's livelihood also. Rather, stress upon timely servicing and monthly pollution checks of all diesel vehicles, to ensure compliance of norms

2. Diesel autos - more than 5 years old -be banned-one month notice. Easy finance schemes may be offered to shift to new CNG / LPG autos

3. Stop new registrations of diesel autos

We should create funds for research and development. We could also ask the big wigs in india to come forward to create funds a company earning 4000 crore every quarter can donate 1 crore. Announce this 1 crore as prize money for anyone who can design a new product, like a robotic sewage cleaner, high effecient cars, etc. That anyone can be engineering student, an IITian or illiterate or a factory mechanic. can be from kashmir or kerala or maharashtra.

Major problem of Current Goverment is only one or two minister are active like Nitin Gadkari and Arun Jaetly and other are inactive. PM needs to give target to each Minister that they should invite all the vendor related to their ministry and atleast sign 365 proposal in 100 days and this should be telecast on TV so every people can see which minister is doing what. Signing proposal will also not solve the problem minister has to make sure this project will execute in estimated cost and time.

My suggestion are: any cars/suv purchase shall be allowed only to those who are married and has a family. For single one he has to show parking space. Odd/even is best practise to curb vehicle pollution. I observed that pollution check points are not checking pollutants by calibrated sensors, all sensors shall be STQC certified only & monthly calibrated. We can apply better Pollution level. Old auto shall be banned and auto drivers should get loan to purchase new autos.Regular walkathon drills

if you really wants to develop india ask your minister to call all the vendor related to his ministry from all over the world and see their presentation and commit on their proposal. Give target to your minister at least see 100 vendor proposal in one week and at least commit 10 proposal in week. currently only Assign this task to all minister and ask them to air this proposal on News channel
