A Smart City is also about having smart citizens. My suggestions for smarter citizens are as follows:
1) A Smart Citizen is one who tries to use water, electricity optimally and produces less waste.
2) A Smart Citizen is one who plans his vehicle trips judiciously to avoid peak traffic.
3) A Smart Citizen is one who contributes to a green chennai.
4) A Smart Citizen is one who maintains his rain water harvesting system regularly thereby helping to improve the cities water table.

Improve e-governance in paying property tax,water tax.Give an alert with due date.Improve commuting.Track MTC bus movement from the bus stop/Mobile Phone using GPS. This will help to plan the journey.Preserve Chennai's cultural value and promote local tourism.Have website/Mobile app to list all the places to visit in Chennai.Please give more focus on basic amenities like tapped drinking water,driange and road to newly added areas.Include local peoples participation in maintains road,park.

I love to have Dynamic info of the Buses/trains/Metro in my Smart Phone in any part of the City. The Power Distribution need to be Smart with ToD Tariff with SMART meters controlling my gadgets for optimum power consumption. Better Water management system with recycling, conservation & Treatment. Waste to Power shall be encouraged and incentives to be provided to households segregating Solid,decomposable waste.Support to Roof Top PV generation integrated with Grid. Monitorable Gas Grid to Home

Smart city means smart in all aspects. Cleanliness, clean environment and communications. Communication is a simple because once there is enough funds there can be wifi etc.Smart city should also mean people should be smart. To make smart pollution should be zero. Firstly all pavements should be free from hoardings. Next no builders should use the roads for dumping construction materials. Next all traders should have wash rooms for their employees.construction debris dumped at designated places.

the smart cities of the world have good transport and connectivity in chennai though we have some good roads in main parts of the city ,the majority of roads are damaged and unfit for travelling swiftly ,so one major concern is the poor condition of our city roads especially in the city outskirts,so i want the corporation to lay good and proper roads and they should also maintain the roads properly especially during monsoon season.

A system for local transport that integrates the tickets across electric train, bus and metro (like in singapore). If not the complete system, definitely it should be possible to make daily pass or monthly pass. Similar to European system we can have rings / zones and the charges can be made on par.
Separate lane for Buses would make the system wonderful.

Ordering from METRO water has become a norm in several areas, several times we are at the mercy of Drivers / officers. Making the ordering of tankers online will help a lot and also the system can be improved over time by displaying the lead time to serve the house or locality. Payment can also be done online so that varying costs can be avoided (i have paid three different costs for the same capacity).

any smart city must have good wi-fi connectivity in important public places,though the corporation has introduced free wi-fi in railway station,metro station and airport i would want the corporation to extend the wi-fi to other places and provide internet of proper bandwidth that is fast,our neighboring city bangalore as already introduced free wi-fi in several places and is planning of making the city itself a free wi fi zone,so i thing our neighbour will inspire us to do the same

first of all any city must be clean thus the emphasis should be on keeping our city clean,then we must must make our city traffic free this can be made by introducing rigorous methods of vehicle registration like the one used in singapore,and we can even implement the car free sunday" concept which is being used in cities like bangalore and we should encourage the people to use bicycles a lot ,this can be done by keeping separate lanes for cyclists and introducing bicyle sharing systems like US
