Impose heavy tax / duty to discourage manufacture of incandescent lamps except for special requirements like Infra red heaters.
Do the same for fluorescent tubes, CFLs, in stages.

The phase one of Ujawala Scheme is working very well. Few things which we can do is:-
(1) We should advertise more for this scheme. AS it seems still lot of people didnt know about it.
(2) Bulbs should be available more easily and should give more choice like 7W,9W,11W.
(3) All the street lights in india needs to be replaces with LED bulbs and it should be mandatory.
(4) All the offices wheather government, Public or Private needs to replace with LED bulbs and it should be mandatory as well.

All the government offices, government educational institutions like IITs IIMs ICAR-IARI etc should be given instructions to use LEDs in place of their old fittings which generally is occupied with tubelights and even bulbs in many govt schools and colleges. To begin with, it can be started with central govt organisations spreading to state govt organisations. Just like Swachh bharat abhiyan if there is circular from higher authorities to do it, it will be followed seriously.Dr. Atul IARI Delhi.

After success of LED Bulb, mandate the tubelight change. Also, increase the luminous of the bulb with slightly higher wattage. Mandate shops / malls to use LED lights. And then street lights.

It is a good scheme. But only 9 wt bulb are available in karnataka. Please provide us bulbs of different wattages may be at different costs. So that we can use it more effectively. Provide us through local panchayats so that one can exchange defective ones easily at local place. However it is a great inniciative by Modi govt. Provide if possible other electrical instruments like fans other household LED items

Despite a lot of efforts by govt. LED bulbs are not so easily available. Moreover LED bulb of different watts are not available through UJALA scheme as far as area is concerned. There should be at least one franchise available within a locality which is not so.

LED bulbs distributed through Collectors'office are being freely sold in open market at price less than the retail price. Citizens who approach the Collectorate are told that there are no bulbs available. This indicates there is massive leakage in the system that needs to be plugged immediately.
