Taking serious note of the latest decision of the National Green Tribunal (NGT), the Chandigarh Administration has speed up the enforcement of ban imposed on the use of polythene ...
for enviorment pt of view plastic ban is very much necessary.previous govt they had not taken these issues seriously.any programed launched by the govt should be implemented properly ,for thst accontability should be fix at that level.
Sir
Anything found to be a menace hould be banned whatever be the repurcussions. Spread cloth bags as the alternative. Find a way to convert plastic waste into fuel and control the atmospheric pollution.
Ban on plastic Bags:
My first approach towards ban on plastic bags is availablity of paper bags/ cloth bag at each and every store, hawker, medical shop, each and every place where goods and food sold.
Strong action against those who are still using polybags and strong action is not fine..shut down such shops for week.
People who are aware are not using plastic bags but if shopkeepers are using it then people tend to use the same. I observe in all hill stations plastic bags are not used.
I agree with sashi point on this suggestion. This way will create an employement issue and it will create bad impression for running central government.
if it is not possible we can avoid to give license future industry. Also we can strictly ordered for big mall and big selling industry.
Finally it will graduatly reduce the usage of poly bags. also not affected any employment issues.
Ban on Plastic bags is possible only through huge awareness program. Government shall start the drive from its own departments. Ministries and their employees shall abolish use of plastic bags in their office premises first. This will send a great message to the masses. Prominent people shall move in public with a cloth bag. "Thaili nahi Thaila Apnao" drive can be launched on social media. Food items in plastic (chips, snack etc.) need to find an organic substitutes, as it ruins tourist places.
Many people easily give suggestions. Very few follow them. Government also is similar. In fact, this is a Government action. If they ban manufacture of plastic granules there ends the matter. The Government knows it. If it is sincere and wants to reduce the use of plastics it has to BAN granules manufacture without any mercy. It is the Government that has propagated the use of plastics. Now the Govt says the public not to use it. The Govt should be free and frank and stop playing dramas.
Awareness, awareness, awareness. Nothing else will work. Ofcourse manufacturing of thin plastic bags should be made a heavily punishable criminal office, and municipal bodies which do not enforce this should be taken to task, so should states which do not force municipalities to take action. The time for soft options is over. Given this, people should go back to using cloth bags that were used not many years back which can be reused. Selling milk and water in plastic packets should be banned
Why government is concentrating on the end user of the plastic bags and the shop keepers instead of closing down the manufacturing units of these plastic bags and cancelling their license for manufacture? So many malls are still having plastic covers with their logo and adds for which the customers have to pay and use. Our milk is still supplied in plastic covers why govt has not taken any initiative to find alternative for this... ?

Below the threshold limit which is dangerous for our environment and causes pollution the higher tax may be implemented to reduce use of such materials.
