LPG is one of the ‘clean’ cooking fuel with present consumer base of 17cr in the country and present coverage is 60% of the households. Government of India is committed to increase LPG coverage in the country to 75% of the household. Present, LPG distributor network has more than 17000 distributors spread having presence in both Rural and Urban areas of the Country. Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India is of the view that there is a need to increase of LPG coverage in the rural areas considering the benefits of LPG in terms of health and environment. Ministry recognizes that availability, accessibility and affordability of LPG are the key factors to increase the LPG coverage in rural areas. This can be done with bringing in new distributorships aligning with challenges encountered with respect of making them available to the last mile.

Therefore, Ministry solicits suggestions/inputs from citizens on the new model of distributorship particularly for the areas such as Hilly/Desert/Densely forested/other difficult locations. Also, to suggest names of locations which require establishing new distributorship.

The extant Guidelines for Selection of Distributorship is available on www.petroleum.nic.in

Bio gas should be compulsory for village with good biomass. This will also decrease greenhouse gas emission like methane. As methan is captured and burn to CO2. CO2 is also greenhouse gas but it is less effective than methane. Also think about the greenhouse gas emission decrease that will happen by burning clean fuel like biogas.

Dear Sir, If we can create LPG Apps for booking and all other things. If we can choose all the petrol pump as distribution point of LPG and increase distributor as currently many distributor are charging extra for new connection by making many excuse and while delivery delivery man ask for extra money like Rs 10 and 20 every month while delivery which is a huge corruption if you calculate in volume wise. Can we conduct monthly survey in each area directly from customer to eradicate this?

12 subsidised LPG cylinders available in to a consumer during a financial year should be allowed month wise i.e. one in each calender month. This will save the government a lot of money in the form of payment of subsidy and black marketing of LPG cylinders will be avoided to a large extent

We must decrease Cylinder volume from 14L to 10L. This will decrease cost per cylinder. The cylinders must come with volume meter to check the cylinder. People open and check if its there or not. This causes accidents. if we get a meter, we know when the cylinder gets over. Also, carrying capacity will increase if weight is decreased. Therefore saving more time and energy for the person carrying the cylinders, vans, etc. Bio Gas has to be promoted and made available in cylinders.
