Information and communication technology is becoming an important aspect of Agriculture sector. Till now most of IT initiatives by government were focused on website and training. In the current scenario, the mobile phones are becoming effective way of delivering information and this medium has been used by DAC&FW to develop KisanSuvidha Mobile App. The app is designed primarily for farmers keeping their requirements in mind. The app is engineered to provide all information at a common place that a farmer or agriculture stakeholder in agriculture sector may require. On 19th March 2016, app was inaugurated by Hon’ble Prime Minister during ‘KrishiUnnatiMela’ in New Delhi. As on today, an approximate 3 lakh active users are using this app. The App is available in Hindi, English, Punjabi, Tamil and Gujarati Language.

The app has very simple interface with focus on providing information on six essential areas of farming:-

1. Weather details
2. Dealers
3. Market Price
4. Plant Protection
5. Agro Advisory
6. Kisan Call Centre (KCC)

The app can be downloaded from Google Play store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=in.cdac.bharatd.agriapp and it is also available on mkisan.gov.in

Kisansuvidha is designed as a ‘Single window’ concept which enables farmers to get relevant information with the click of a button. Many more new features are being incorporated into this app so that it becomes more useful for farmers and related stakeholders.

We invite suggestion from all to improve this app further and share other useful apps for farmers.

Sir firstly there shuld be a crash course for farmers thrgh panchayats regarding the usage of technology. Secondly there has to be a dedicated call centre for these farmers which would provide all necessary assistance on all levels frm meteriological forecast to innovations and the call centres shuld be outsourced to private firms ovrrlooked by an gov organisation.
We shld hav civil services adm dept like IAS,IPS,IRS,etc for agri dept with dedicated agri engineers/scient holding the top post.

Its a good idea but kisan needs to know that there is and app to help him. Government had launched cheap LED bulb project for masses but problem was no one knew where it was available all you had was government ads which added public frustration.

I think it is good idea for farmers because this app help him by several ways. A teconolgy which a farmer now till not able to use now they can know market price of there crop and there is a service center for farmer so a app can change a little part of there app so I thought it is a good use of Morden technology for our Indian farmer how give a food If they don't do we don't get the food to eat so midi government has done a good work for farmers but now also there lot of problem in farmer life

It is a very good idea to merge technology with farming. Farmers should be aware of the technically advanced ways of farming. Government can run some programs to train farmers according to farming conditions of there (farmers's) areas in the local language of that area. This would help in more productivity and effectively better life for all of us including farmers and common people.

In respect to Kisan suvidha, smart mobile application will be very useful to the farmer, I want to suggest that, there are so many poor and needy farmers do not have such type of facilities like mobile, i-pad etc. further, they don't know how to access such application, what is the benifit by such app., which types of information , how to access information etc. should be facilitate or provided to the farmers , further, authenticity of information is also assured to the farmers, best wishes

No doubt mobiles are an important tool today, but there are still many who are far from the reaches of IT. For them there has to be an offline service so that they may be able to catch up as quickly as possible with the rest of the country. Large scale campaigns in the backward areas like Bundelkhand, Vidarbh etc is needed because these areas always face neglect by the state govt. for all such issues and thus have low connctivity, so if the center takes care of them, it would be good for them.
