Greater Mumbai, the city of dreams, is also part of the Smart City Challenge, commissioned by the Ministry of Urban Development. The focus on making any city smart is to provide better services more efficiently to its citizens at their doorstep. With this view, the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai believes that ideas for developing Mumbai into a Smart City should come directly from its citizens. This initiative is part of the comprehensive plan for citizen engagement envisioned by the MCGM. We will also be inviting suggestions via social media, at the level of the wards and on a pan city level.

With a population which is diverse and vibrant in so many ways, the potential to develop the city of Mumbai is limitless. As the pioneer of development and business and a melting pot of cultures, Mumbai is a very good representation of the dynamic culture of India. As a representative, Mumbai has the responsibility of becoming a global example of an efficient and citizen friendly city, through technology and service delivery.

To this purpose, we the MCGM, invite citizen of Mumbai to tell us what they believe should be a part of the Plan to develop Greater Mumbai into a city where every citizen enjoys efficient services and overall quality of life is increased and preserved. We are looking for any ideas, innovations and suggestions that will help us put together a good plan for the smart development of Mumbai.

Improve the driving system all over India, the cars and buses and autos should drive and follow the lanes, they should not speed in residential areas where high speed is not allowed and they should not take the cars over people in speed, should be careful and safe drivers. In foreign countries people follow the driving rules, and driving is so good, easy and systematic, every driver follows the driving rules carefully, people follow the lanes, so please IMPROVE THE DRIVING SYSTEM IN INDIA

And the huge under utilised land parcels near LTT and Bandra Terminus could be used to make such centers. Ideally, Temples with huge reading spaces, places where volunteers could cook food / offer help and have AV sessions conducted by knowledgeable people. I said Temples because - in our history, no other 'Classroom' has been as significant and as crucial for the betterment of it's brethren..

LTT - a gateway to Mumbai for most of the working class migrants who come from thousands of kilometers with a hope of living their dream that turns out to be more of a nightmare. These men travel under appalling conditions for 2 days to land in Mumbai - to face the fury and the unfairness of the society. In my opinion, these people are the largest untapped mine of value that our country has. We need to have "Societal Assimilation" centers near such stations that will help them adapt to City
