The role of new and renewable energy has been increasing significantly in recent times with the growing concern for the country's energy security. To achieve energy self-sufficiency, it is necessary to deploy new and renewable energy for supplementing the energy requirements of our country. So, we ask you to suggest ways for encouraging the use of renewable energy on this open discussion forum.

Sir,
I think Government should be Create Awareness for Uses of Solar Energy, Rain water Harvesting to the Public through Ads or Presentations like Public toilets (Swachch Bharat). Then they should provide any subsidy for Installation of Solar panels and to making pits for Rain Water harvesting.

Float a PSU or create a policy for private sector participation in roof top solar. For example allow companies to rent roof space from private citizens and install roof top solar panels. Alternately, roof space could be rented from government buildings, street lights, medians on roads.

Such an approach would be cheaper as it would reduce the distance between generation and consumption and avoid complications related to land acquisition.

kisano ko solar motor use ka option de sakte hai mgar india me solar motor ki cost high hai. kyo na solar motor ki unit per diyan de to kisan bhi judh jayega solar energy se. kisan ke pass agricalcher west bhi hota hai use jagruk rarke bhi kyoki kisan ke pass sabse jada renewable energy source hote hai. mind ko set karne ki jarurat hai.

All government organization will use only solar energy means every day miss use energy they are without energy. only that organization connect to ac power they are IT & telecom, other imp will be option to connect AC line.
comman man why use solar energy ? ANS: if common man energy makes for own and some energy for another 2 family. than gov. give 5 lac tax selve free. ofter 5 lac pay income tax and solar energy income tax free. means gov. & other pvt person who pay small small tax make solar

GOI is giving emphasis on Solar Energy (Electricity Production), by giving subsidy and other kinds of help for making India power cut country and providing electricity to the last person of this country. On contacting Uttarakhand Renewabale Energy Development Agency (UREDA) (Nodal agency) at Dehradun I was told that this is ment only for hill districts not Dehradun. I fail to understand why?

While on the subject of toilets, I hope PM Modi's serious new Smart City initiatives pan out well. I tried to read some web sourced literature about existing smart city plans to see if apartment building toilets were considered and I wasn't sure. I know there is discussion about public toilets and making them available. But if buildings could be powered with a combo of private toilet based urine and poop, and solar panels on ceilings, windows, walls etc, I can't think of a better way....

I don't know how much progress the Gates Foundation has made with super renewable poop toilets but I hope these toilets can be economically made and be used to generate electricity also for animals (that way we don't need to run behind them and catch their urine and poop) and humans. I know Jathropa plants also have biofuel in them but I don't know how profitable such plant farms are. But protecting animals and using their poop for electricity, I think is a serious project to consider.

Of course, the economics of such a farm would need to be worked out but if I had the surplus funds available, I'd totally look to see if such a project is feasible. Kill 3-4 birds with 1 stone. Save and care for crucial/sacred animals, produce urine, milk and poop, sell produce for electricity, medicines and milk, and perhaps amuse some locals around the farm?
