Smart City Bhubaneswar

आरंभ करने की तिथि :

Bhubaneswar, the administrative, economic and cultural capital for the State of Odisha, provides a unique context today wherein the city’s rich heritage and its legacy of being ...
Bhubaneswar as a smart city should have a lot of green cover, should have dedicated corridor for ambulance & cycling, should have affordable housing for all (govt. intervention is extremely essential instead of housing purely in the hands of private players), effective policing for maintenance of law & order at all places & at all time to make the city more safe & secure, de limitations in number of three wheeler .
lets focus to make it eco-friendly as well. The waste management should also be thought off at initial stage itself
Smart city focus on 3 things, reduced traffic, save energy and improved public safety. Whatever best can be achieved by digitalisation it should be done. Manual dependencies and corruption pinpoints should be made electronic with no human control and 100% transparency.
First of all I really congratulate government of India for thinking in this direction. It is very well required. We should think of more effective public transport, Rain water harvesting, electricity supply and generation (renewable energy) etc. My focus area will be to control mass city migration from rural areas to start with.
The smart city should be smart with energy as well. The concept of green roofing and subsidies from govt to encourage green roofing (Solar) can help with city energy needs as well. Govt should focus on improvements in technology and lower prices
Lets take a look at amsterdam as well. You will hardly see any personal vehicle in the city. Its all cycles everywhere. Cycles are good for one's health but also for environment. With smart city lets build it in such a way that from start itself we move towards ultimate goal rather than like Gurgaon, wherein first they expand left and right then think of having no car day.
The Smart city needs to focus on:
1. Provision of affordable housing and eradicate housing shortfall in all segment of society
2.Incorporating Green building technology.
3.Facilitating Smart Parking System in comm./res areas of the city and create more walkable neighborhood.
4.Preserving and developing open areas, reserve forest, water bodies, natural drainage channels in the city and make an eco-balanced environment for the citizen.
With the inclusion of Bhubaneswar under Smart city programme, now there is a huge scope of the city to become much more smarter by addressing the issues related to urban planning, housing, transportation, urban services, heritage & environment and become a role model for other cities across the country.
Next thing is pollution, it is right time to think about it before it became Delhi like situation. More public transportation is the need of the hour including Metro trains and everybody should use it as much as possible without traveling by own vehicles. The rising number of auto rickshaws are real problem for Bhubaneswar, these are not only polluting heavily, it also causing lot of traffic headache for other commuters. These need to be either removed or only should be used for reserve travels.
Continue from previous post...
Apart from roads, traffic management need to be done properly, it is currently miserable. Very limited traffic lights whereas traffic police/homeguards are managing traffic which is not upto the mark. Secondly, city can not be smart unless we people want it to make it smart, we should follow traffic rules and make others to follow the same. Government should strictly enforce the rules, any offenders should be punished with fines etc no matter who may be. -cont.
