Erode City Municipal Corporation has been selected through a competitive process for SMART City Mission initiative of Government of India. In the next phase, Erode city has to compete with 98 other cities from across the country to make it into the Top 20 cities which will be taken up for the first round of funding. The Stage II involves the preparation of an Area Development Plan and a Pan-City Initiative under the SMART City Proposal (SCP). The detailed guidelines are provided in www.smartcities.gov.in.

Citizens and stakeholders are requested to post their views and suggestions on how to make Erode a Smart one. The citizens may organize their thoughts on the following topics

1. What should be the Vision for Erode?
2. What are the strengths, areas of Improvement and solutions across the following sectors

(a) City Spatial Structure, Transportation and Green Spaces
(b) Energy, Water, Waste Water and Environment
(c) Housing, Health, Education, Security, Law and Order
(d) Citizen Engagement, Smart Solutions and IT-led service delivery

Citizens can also reach us through the official site of Erode Municipal Corporation www.erodecorporation.gov.in or through the Facebook page www.facebook.com/smartcityerode which is the official page for smart city challenge.

Hi first of all main problem in erode textile used dying Water is directly send to river. So to prevent those thing we will involved water water treatment plant. Textile water purify by using a chemical like alum and lignite coal can Use purify a water. Plz use the system and the recycle water can again use for textile or any purpose like concreting, etc

In respect to smart city, people safety and security specially to woman should be given high priority.CCTV camara should be fixed at all the points from entrance of city to exit of city, which should be constantly monitored. smart city should be trade,sercives and business oriented, NO industries which make pollution, should be sanctioned within the limit of 25 kms of the city. The city should be completely with trees and plants,it should be pollution free, The people should feel like heaven

My suggestions goes here..... 1.) Cauvery river is just passing through the city and the city uses only for drinking water not for the agriculture purpose.So if government should create water management sources from the river.So that city will have proper water resources,Higher ground water level and hygienic drinking water.It will create the source for the summer as city has already facing water issues during summer. 2.) Green environment

All facilities like water,electricity,road,drainage,health,education,business facilities,shopping mall,tele-eloctronic facilities,internet-wifi,Garden, theator,temple for all religion,hotel,railway,metro,transportation,latest infrastructure,all types of plays-grounds,clubs,all types of entertainment faci., etc,are unlimited,clean,dust-free,advance with high technology with online digital facilities for all types of services,There should be no deficit of any goods,items or services to people

The city of Erode requires to ensure basic infrastructure services to enable a decent quality of life in urban pockets and a clean and sustainable environment and adoption of smart solutions and providing more public spaces to poor. It may be implemented through areas based approach consisting of retrofitting, re-development, pan city initiatives. There is also need of hours to develop and adopt a model code for development of new cities Pan India for continuous pace of Smart Development.

It's high time to focus on ground water recharge system in our city. As in nature erode is famous for its agricultural products but during recent years we started to use our agriculture land for drying the dying clothes and other such activities as it results to ground water contamination . If the same being continued by following years the ground water is required to be treated to meet the domestic consumption standards.

The followings may be few suggestive measures for a smart and clean city: 1. Street washing before sweeping; 2. Use Bio-disposers to dispose kitchen / bio-degradable waste directly to sewer network. 3. Areas without sewer network may be provided with Bio-digesters for tackling bio-degradable waste. 4. Manage all type of Solid Waste separately without co-mingling for efficient reuse / recycling. & 5. Prefer to provide decentralised sanitation facilities, community managed & self sustainable.
