Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation, in Karnataka State has been selected by the Ministry of Urban Development as one of the 100 smart cities to participate in the “Smart City” Challenge Stage-2 by the Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India.

Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation was constituted in the year 1962 by combining two cities separated by a distance of 20 kilometers. This was a unique experiment in urban development history. The area of this Corporation is 202.3sq.kms, spread over 45 revenue villages. The population of the city as per the 1991 Census was 7 lakhs. The present population is nearly more than 9.43 lakhs. Under the Government of India Act of 1850, the Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal council was established on August 15, 1855.

Let’s join together to make Hubballi-Dharwad as a Smart City.

Hubballi Dharwad smart city is a dream shared by all its citizens.We believe our city's potential needs to be unlocked in multiple sectors and the tag of smart city will help unleash this potential.It needs to turn into the educational,cultural,economic and governance hub for the entire north Karnataka region and become a beacon of enlightenment for entire country.

Firstly we need a dustfree roads n good foot path for pedestrians and wastages should be reduced n dumpbins should be kept in pedastrain streets , should make efficient use of physical infrastructures adopting new technologies n developing the present scenario is required as well.

2) HDD (hubli dharwad dailouge ) the stage will create the citizen to share their ideas an views an suggestion for developments 3) citizen budget commission open stage budget 1 day in year . conducting budget session inside the corporation let call all corporater an mp.mla.dc.sp in open ground with citizen of hubli dharwad an conduct a budget evry year ... advantage is * accountability and transparency .

1)make one extra board in HDMC like citizen charter commission . The main objective of the exercise to issue the Citizen's Charter of an organisation is to improve the quality of public services. This is done by letting people know the mandate of the concerned Ministry/ Department/ Organisation, how one can get in touch with its officials, what to expect by way of services and how to seek a remedy if something goes wrong. involvement of every citizen to share the view

As a Smart City Hubli Dharwad we should have the best e-governance tools which would help the citizens of the city in 1. Getting all Govt services like bill payments, new connections for electricity, water etc. 2 The best Public Grievances Redressal System for any complaints related Govt Dept ex: a toll free 24/7 control room, Android application

Hubballi-Dharwad has huge potential. If we( Community involvement is very necessary ) with our corporation take up the responsibility to smarten it up then this collective effort can put us on the global map.A smart city has to be 1.Collaborative 2.Inclusive 3.Sustainable City planning has to occur on these 3 pillars of change !
