Indian National Defence University Bill, 2015 proposes to establish a world class fully autonomous institution of National Importance under Ministry of Defence. University will develop and propagate higher education (PhD, M Phil, M Tech and M Sc) in National Security Studies, Defence Management and Defence Technology and promote policy oriented research on all aspects relating to national security, both internal and external. It would also encourage awareness of national security issues by reaching out to scholars and an audience beyond the official machinery. It will also serve as a think tank contributing to policy formulation and debates on security and strategy. INDU will inculcate and promote coordination and interaction not just between the three Armed Services but also between other agencies of the Government, the Civil Bureaucracy, Para Military Forces, Central Armed Police Forces, Intelligence Services, Diplomats, Academicians, Strategic Planners, University Students and officers from Friendly Foreign Countries. It would create synergy between the academic community and Govt functionaries. It would make available opportunities for higher studies through distance learning to interested military personnel.
Initially, four new colleges / institutions, namely School of National Security Studies, School of Defence Technology, School of Defence Management and Centre for Distance and Open Learning are proposed to be set up at main campus at Binola, Gurgaon. The four existing Defence Institutions namely National Defence College (NDC), New Delhi, College of Defence Management (CDM), Secunderabad, Defence Services Staff College (DSSC), Wellington and National Defence Academy (NDA), Khadakwasla, Pune are proposed to be brought under the ambit of INDU without diluting their powers or autonomy for award of degrees and diplomas.

this is really a fantastic idea. these university can be a good way to encourage youth to join defense with motivation not as a job. rule sud be thr to serve atleast 5 years in social sector or critical war front to ensure no misuse.
idea is good but the thing is that aspirants of these university too should not be judged by quota system, they should not take it as a government job instead take it as a service to our country incredible INDIA
Unfortunately, brilliant ideas like these need beauracratic and political approval in our country which wastes lot of time and energy.
Anyways along with all suggestions given by hon'ble members so far, I would suggest to include a department for internal security. In 21st century wars are faught not just with tanks,warships but also by waging proxy wars.So we should focus more on internal security to save our nation from terrorism.It should have dedicated wing for intelligence dept.
Wish this bill was completely passed and was in run before 5 years. Atleast I would get a chance to serve my Nation in Armed forces.

gud idea of govt..but most important thing the level of teaching and the teacher too be increse....and the head of that should not be a defece serving or retire personal..it must be civilan......sepiclly there should be a monitering system...so that no corrution to be made ..
we are always teaching on Technics on war.We forget soldiers are living and fighting not in desert or sea or sky but they are in land where the villagers living.Develop skill to interact and build friendly relationship with villages nearby instead of showing domination.Each military personal should develop friendly relation ship with villages,Help them then they will help you for giving information and will guard us from enemy.nearby villages enjoy more facility by military roads,Hospital ..

#DEFENSE ENTREPRENEURSHIP
I am in a consortium in Europe, which involves public laboratories across EU. Here new concept of enabling entrepreneurship inside public laboratories (or their sister orgs) is encouraged.
I suggest having an incubation center in Defense Management and Defense Technology wings of INDU. In short bring Startup India and Make in India initiatives into INDU.
Defense has a lot of scope in entrepreneurship in cyber security, soldier gear, night vision, camouflage etc.
1.A special focus should be given to the Cyber security.
2.Forensic Branch can also be added in the Defense University.

This is excellent idea but should work as common agenda and not for any political milage. Also atleast for this university it should be taken care or a srtict clause should be introduced that a student joining this university is deemed to accept Bhartiya Constituent in whole and will not go anti-national in campus like it happened in JNU. This Universities sole purpose will be defeated if people like Umar Khalid joins and shouts anti Indian slogan in campus.So this clause should be meet strongly
