The Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Ministry of Jal Shakti in collaboration with MyGov is organizing 7-day Swachhata Challenge to invite citizens to create Hi-resolution video having Day-wise highlight with before and after scene of the spot/site to communicate and encourage the importance of the Swachhhata. You can use your imagination to be as creative as possible without the use of any offensive/derogatory/political content.

This year, the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ was observed from 17th September to 2nd October with the theme of ‘Swabhav Swachhata - Sanskaar Swachhata’ (स्वभाव स्वच्छता - संस्कार स्वच्छता). With the objective to facilitate large-scale advocacy and citizen participation for swachhata, mega cleanliness drive with focus on cleaning of neglected/difficult/dirty garbage spots (black spots), recognize the contribution of sanitation workers, celebrate the achievements over the past decade, and also reaffirm our commitment to the future of sanitation and sustainable waste management in India. The Focus of Challenge is on core messages of ‘Swabhav’ (behaviour), ‘Sanskar’ (values), ‘Zimmedari’ (responsibility) & ‘Bhaagidari’ (collective participation) and to have a positive impact and encourage others to join in!

Day 1: Clean Your Surroundings
Spend 30 minutes to clean your toilets and your surroundings. Safe dispose of any trash/ Waste

Day 2: Segregate Waste
Segregate various kinds of waste (plastic, paper, glass, kitchen, menstrual, etc.) and ensure its safe disposal with proper management. Dissemination of messages among rural masses.

Day 3: Clean Public Space
Spend 30 minutes for cleaning nearby public space like a park, bus stop, village roads or playground. Participate in sweeping, collecting and its safe disposal to make the public space cleaner.

Day 4: Refuse, Reduce and Reuse Plastic
Refuse single-use plastic and carry reusable bags. Showcase your creativity by recycling plastic waste into useful product having some economic value.

Day 5: Swachhata Pledge
Take a pledge to maintain cleanliness in your daily life and encourage others to do (Swachhata Pledge)

Day 6: Composting
Demonstrate use of a nearest compost pit by putting wet/green waste into a pit or pot and using it for Agri-field/ Parks/ garden/ pots etc.

Day 7: Community Clean-Up Drive
Involve friends and family for at least 30 minute clean-up drive with focus on water-bodies like beach, riverbank, ponds etc.

Submission Requirements: Upload one single compiled PDF document with all 7-Day activities.

Additional Requirement: Upload compiled video of the day-wise activities on your social media platforms and Tag Swachh Bharat Mission Grameen (As per the platform you choose to upload)
