India is home to one of the youngest populations in the world, making our youth a transformative force capable of reshaping the nation’s socio-economic future. In today’s rapidly evolving global landscape marked by disruptive technological advancements, youth face unprecedented opportunities and challenges. In this context, a progressive, technology-enabled, inclusive, and future-ready National Youth Policy is imperative to enable youth to realize their full potential and contribute meaningfully to the vision of Viksit Bharat @ 2047. A draft National Youth Policy, 2025 (NYP-2025) has been prepared which provides a holistic and future-ready framework for the development, empowerment, and engagement of youth in nation-building. In this regards Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in collaboration with MyGov are inviting inputs/suggestions from Citizens on draft NYP 2025 for inclusion in the policy.

I request that the National Youth Policy 2025 include a national Rural Immersion Yatra, where India’s brightest students—engineers, researchers, agriculture experts and aspiring policymakers—spend time in backward districts to understand ground realities, verify scheme delivery, document rural innovations, and bring authentic voices directly to government. After travelling across 28 states and working in rural Nagaur, I have seen how gaps between policy design and delivery leave villagers unheard. A structured immersion programme can create real impact: 14,000 youth engaging with 1.4 million rural citizens annually, transparent documentation, exposure to rural challenges, preservation of local knowledge, and a new generation of empathetic, evidence-driven leaders. This initiative will strengthen accountability, reduce leakages, and build a people-powered, corruption-free governance model aligned with the vision of Viksit Bharat @ 2047.

I suggest adding a focus area on Agri-Youth Leadership for Dryland Regions. Districts like Nagaur, Rajasthan show how youth can transform local economies through crops such as Nagauri Paan Methi, cultivated on 8,000 hectares and harvested 3–5 times a year, supporting thousands of families. To empower such youth, the policy should introduce a Rural Innovation Fellowship, integrate agri-startups into experiential learning, and reward rural enterprise under the Youth Engagement Pyramid. Special support should be given to traditional high-value crops that lack recognition, and green entrepreneurship must be promoted through local processing, climate-adaptive farming tools, seed conservation, and women-led rural enterprises. These steps will ensure rural youth become job creators, climate leaders, and key contributors to Viksit Bharat 2047.
