India is home to one of the youngest populations in the world, making our youth a transformative force capable of reshaping the nation’s socio-economic future. In today’s rapidly evolving global landscape marked by disruptive technological advancements, youth face unprecedented opportunities and challenges. In this context, a progressive, technology-enabled, inclusive, and future-ready National Youth Policy is imperative to enable youth to realize their full potential and contribute meaningfully to the vision of Viksit Bharat @ 2047. A draft National Youth Policy, 2025 (NYP-2025) has been prepared which provides a holistic and future-ready framework for the development, empowerment, and engagement of youth in nation-building. In this regards Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in collaboration with MyGov are inviting inputs/suggestions from Citizens on draft NYP 2025 for inclusion in the policy.

There is a growing trend of blindly adopting foreign lifestyles while neglecting Indian traditions. Even at leadership levels, we often see a preference for Western attire over Indian textiles during global representation. The Solution: We need to decolonize our mindset. The policy should encourage youth and leaders to take pride in Indian roots, attire, and values. We must modernize without losing our identity.

🚀 Integrate a Dedicated 'Future-Proofing & Well-being' Pillar While the draft policy focuses on education, employment, health, and social justice, the core suggestion is to strengthen the policy by integrating a dedicated, comprehensive focus on: 1. Future-Ready Skills & Lifelong Employability Mandatory 'Skill, Up-skill, and Re-skill' Mechanism: Establish a national framework where career counseling, vocational training, and higher education are systematically linked to emerging, future-proof skills (e.g., AI, Machine Learning, Green Technology, Data Analytics, Industry 4.0). Experiential Learning Credit System: Introduce a credit system that formally recognizes and integrates on-the-job training, internships, apprenticeships, and volunteering as an essential and graded component of all academic and vocational degrees, effectively bridging the gap between education and industry. 2. Comprehensive Mental Health and Well-being Support National Youth Mental Health Helpline

To create a robust youth policy, it's essential to prioritize research and development in India. Allocate more funds for research and development in various fields, including science, technology, and humanities. Increase seats in premier institutions like IITs, IISC, and AIIMS to provide more opportunities for students. Keep top institutions like ISI public to maintain their academic excellence and accessibility. Invest in modern infrastructure, including state-of-the-art labs, libraries, and sports facilities. Sign MoUs with foreign institutions to enable student and faculty exchange programs, joint research projects, and internships. Ensure effective implementation of sports policies, provide adequate funding, and support for sports infrastructure and training programs.
