The District Administration Baghpat invites citizens, youth, innovators and institutions from across India on MyGov to share innovative and practical ideas to transform the Shri Parshurameshwar Pura Mahadev Mahashivratri Mela into a Zero Waste Mahotsav on theme “Bhakti Bhi, Prakriti Bhi”.

Building on the successful implementation of a Zero Waste model during Falguni Mahashivratri 2026 celebrations, this initiative aims to further strengthen sustainable practices and develop Baghpat as a model for green and responsible religious gatherings in India.

Aligned with the vision of Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment), Swachh Bharat and sustainable tourism, the initiative promotes environmentally responsible behaviour, reduction of waste, resource efficiency and community participation in large public events.

What kind of ideas are we looking for?
      1. Participants are encouraged to submit practical, scalable and innovative ideas in areas such as:
      a. Waste management and zero waste systems
      b. Plastic-free alternatives for melas and religious events
      c. Eco-friendly materials and green infrastructure
      d. Awareness campaigns and behavioural change strategies
      e. Volunteer and youth engagement models
      f. Use of technology (apps, QR-based services, monitoring systems, etc.)
      g. Sustainable tourism and visitor management

      How to participate?
      1. Submit your idea in maximum 200–300 words
      2. Focus on solutions that can be practically implemented on ground
      3. You may include examples, models or case references

What will happen to your ideas?
Selected ideas will be reviewed by the District Administration and considered for implementation during the Shravani Mahashivratri Mela scheduled in second week of August 2026. Selected contributions may also be recognised as part of a district-led innovation initiative and documented as good practices.

This is an opportunity to contribute to building a national model of sustainable religious events, promote environmental responsibility, and strengthen citizen participation in governance. Your ideas can help demonstrate how tradition, technology and sustainability can work together for a better future.

Project SHIVA 360° is an AI-powered framework that transforms Mahashivratri into a Nature-Positive Religious Festival through AI, Digital Twin technology, Green Guardians, circular management of temple offerings, and biodiversity restoration. It promotes sustainable, technology-driven pilgrimage management aligned with Mission LiFE and Swachh Bharat, creating a scalable model for religious festivals across India.

Religious gatherings attract thousands of devotees and generate significant waste. By promoting waste segregation, plastic-free alternatives, volunteer participation and reuse of religious offerings, the Shri Parshurameshwar Pura Mahadev Mela can become a model Zero Waste Mahotsav. The initiative will demonstrate that devotion and environmental responsibility can go hand in hand. Small, practical changes supported by community participation and technology can create a cleaner, greener.

To lead the Parshurameshwar mahotsav with zero waste the following ideas we can follow: 1.we have to make posters and paste them in mela which includes about throwing waste in dustbins and we have to keep dustbins available everywhere. 2.To serve prasad we can use the big leaves by folding it as a bowl as in olden days people used instead of plastic. 3.make posters that if people throw the waste on ground the fine will be applied.

My idea is -Digital Darshan & QR-Coded Prasad Paperless Offerings- Replace paper pamphlets or donation slips with QR codes placed on stone pillars/trees. Scanning them leads to a digital history of the Pura Mahadev temple or a livestream of the Aarti. 2. Smart Seva- Use the QR system for tracking real-time requirements (e.g, if a volunteer group needs help, the QR leads to a WhatsApp group for that specific "Seva" task).

      ## 1. Waste Management and Zero Waste Systems * Mandatory Eco-Cutlery: Ban single-use plastics completely. Allow only clay cups (kulhads), leaf plates (pattals), and bagasse (sugarcane fiber) containers for food distribution. * Smart Color-Coded Bins: Place twin dustbins—Green for organic/wet waste and Blue for dry/recyclable waste—every 50 meters across the fairgrounds.
