The District Administration Baghpat invites citizens, youth, innovators and institutions from across India on MyGov to share innovative and practical ideas to transform the Shri Parshurameshwar Pura Mahadev Mahashivratri Mela into a Zero Waste Mahotsav on theme “Bhakti Bhi, Prakriti Bhi”.

Building on the successful implementation of a Zero Waste model during Falguni Mahashivratri 2026 celebrations, this initiative aims to further strengthen sustainable practices and develop Baghpat as a model for green and responsible religious gatherings in India.

Aligned with the vision of Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment), Swachh Bharat and sustainable tourism, the initiative promotes environmentally responsible behaviour, reduction of waste, resource efficiency and community participation in large public events.

What kind of ideas are we looking for?
      1. Participants are encouraged to submit practical, scalable and innovative ideas in areas such as:
      a. Waste management and zero waste systems
      b. Plastic-free alternatives for melas and religious events
      c. Eco-friendly materials and green infrastructure
      d. Awareness campaigns and behavioural change strategies
      e. Volunteer and youth engagement models
      f. Use of technology (apps, QR-based services, monitoring systems, etc.)
      g. Sustainable tourism and visitor management

      How to participate?
      1. Submit your idea in maximum 200–300 words
      2. Focus on solutions that can be practically implemented on ground
      3. You may include examples, models or case references

What will happen to your ideas?
Selected ideas will be reviewed by the District Administration and considered for implementation during the Shravani Mahashivratri Mela scheduled in second week of August 2026. Selected contributions may also be recognised as part of a district-led innovation initiative and documented as good practices.

This is an opportunity to contribute to building a national model of sustainable religious events, promote environmental responsibility, and strengthen citizen participation in governance. Your ideas can help demonstrate how tradition, technology and sustainability can work together for a better future.

Baghpat can become India’s first “Green Pilgrimage Model” by introducing a Digital Green Seva Mission during the Mahashivratri Mela. Every devotee should receive a QR-based Green Pass to join eco-friendly activities. By using refill water stations, returning plastic waste, planting a sapling, or disposing of waste correctly, visitors earn Green Points redeemable for Prasad coupons, certificates, or souvenir gifts. Install AI-supported smart waste bins with separate sections for wet, dry and religious waste. Convert temple flowers into compost and incense sticks, and ensure all food is served only in biodegradable pattal, dona and kulhads. My Bharat, NSS, NCC and local youth should lead Green Seva Teams. A live dashboard should display waste recycled, plastic saved and volunteer contributions. This scalable model will promote Mission LiFE, Swachh Bharat and establish Baghpat as a national benchmark for sustainable religious tourism.

Renewable energy source This video illustrates a Subsea Solid-State Energy Harvesting System designed for autonomous, renewable power in deep-sea environments. The device utilizes a dual-energy approach. First, a piezoelectric ribbon array captures kinetic energy from ocean currents; the flow bends flexible ribbons, generating electricity. Second, Thermoelectric Generators (TEGs) exploit the Seebeck effect, leveraging the temperature differential between hot hydrothermal vents (~150°C) and cold ambient seawater (~4°C) to produce power. The system is encased in pressure-resistant titanium, employs Phase Change Materials for thermal stability, and uses supercapacitors for energy storage. With zero moving parts, it provides continuous, reliable power for autonomous underwater sensors and data transmission systems via acoustic transceivers. In instagram @aryanvarma_143 Also other using Faraday law by waves and one more long time vaccum all are no external power like manpower and electric

To make this moucher of or god shree parshurameshwar puram mahadev temple the festival of shivratri make it zero waste Mahotsav. For making it we should use the biodegradable things like van Mendes are packing the Prasad to the visitors or and the flowers all the things that should be in limited use not to throw outside inside the temple or on the road side but by making all linking the map to the roads or that show the visitors a point that all the waste are collected at a point by showing this on map visitor will throw the waste on on at particular point due to this the zero waste mahotsav can be achieved through this. And the involvement of the volunteers is very mandatory that because nsc , NCC students or volunteers should increase the visitors about the environment or the things we that we should use it or we should not use it the volunteer role in shaping the mind of the visitors that are coming to enjoy this mahotsav. No use of plastic bags by vendors to visitors.

To make the Shri Parshurameshwar Pura Mahadev Mahashivratri Mela a true Zero Waste Mahotsav, practical and community-driven solutions should be adopted. Introduce a deposit-return system for steel plates and glasses, where visitors receive a refund after returning the utensils. Install colour-coded waste bins at regular intervals with volunteers ensuring proper waste segregation. Organic waste such as flowers and food should be composted, while recyclable waste should be sent to authorized recycling centres. Make it mandatory for vendors to use biodegradable or reusable packaging and prohibit single-use plastics. Form Green Volunteer Teams with local youth, NCC/NSS students, and NGOs to guide visitors and spread awareness. QR codes at key locations can provide maps, drinking water points, toilets, and waste disposal information. Reward the cleanest stalls and volunteers with certificates. Similar zero-waste practices at large public events have shown that such measures are practical.
