On 15th August 2017, Shri Pingili Prashanth Reddy, then Inspector of Jammikunta Police Station, started a unique initiative at Gandhi Chowk, Jammikunta. Since then, for the last 8 years without a single break, every morning at 8 AM, a public announcement alerts the entire town. The National Anthem is played on loudspeakers across the town. What happens next is extraordinary. For 52 seconds, the entire town stands still. People stop walking, shopkeepers stop business, students stop cycling, drivers stop their vehicles and stand at attention in respect for the National Anthem.
