Electronics Sector is a critical Sector of the Indian Economy. It is one of the pillars of “Make in India” and “Digital India” programs of the Government.
Keeping in view that the Electronics Manufacturing Sector holds a great potential in the Indian context, and there has been a gap between the achievement and the potential of this sector, NITI Aayog has prepared a Draft Strategy Paper for Make in India in Electronics.
This Strategy paper titled Make in India - Strategy for Electronic Products has been uploaded on NITI Aayog’s website and can be accessed here: http://niti.gov.in/writereaddata/files/document_publication/Electronics%...

We would appreciate valuable comments and inputs on the Strategy Paper from relevant stakeholders and public at large by 15th June 2016.

Three dimensional approach is necessary: 1. Research and Development - Includes creating a indigenous knowledge base, state-of-the-art research labs, EDA tools reserach and development companies. 2. Assembly and Manufacturing - Assembling of components is gaining ground recently but manufacturing is still miles behind because of poor research facilities. Manufacturing helps provide Employment and reduce cost 3. Waste disposal - Need to make sure that India is nt dumping ground of E-products.

NM should immediately do what his Niti aayog has recommended months ago. They suggested creation of coastal EPZs just like China did in the 80s. That is the only solution which is all encompassing. Not only will Make in India be a reality instead of being just a slogan, but one other huge failure of NM will be rectified ie improving Ease of business ranking.
