In order to facilitate optimum utilization of resources, the govt or its authority body like AICTE, NCVT should allow ITIs, Polytechnics, Engineering Colleges to run on single platform say in a premises or place on shift basis or suitable method so that the lab equipments are fully engaged to serve more. UG, PG courses are conducted in Universities then why not ITI, Polytechnics, Engg College to function in a single roof with a motto all solutions under One Roof

Allied area training in ITI is a mandatory requirement. Currently allied areas identified don't satisfy the industry requirement. Computer skills, Behavioral training are certain areas which can be contemplated to be included in ITI education as students with ITIs have lack of basic understanding of the application in these areas.

ITIs don't have the concept of doing a self analysis for their students on employability. An Online standard Employability test can be brought in place by NCVT to have insights on what their students have learnt. This has nothing to do with NTC as it an academic exercise of providing marks to students. Students coming out of private ITIs have nothing less than 80 percent in NTC which is completely utopia & this marking / grading system requires serious review.

Concept of Engg course structure is a req in ITI education. WIth common subjects to be handled for one year, specialization can be there for next one year. This exists in ITI but only with premier ITI institutes. Its time this should be taken on priority along with syllabi review by NCVT/SCVT & bring in changes in what content is delivered.

Polytechnic situation is a bit better than ITI. Concept of practical exposure is again missing in Diploma education. Industry trends are not covered & syllabi requires a drastic review. Technical Universities require industry interface to decide on syllabi. Currently its purely academic information leading the students to no where near what the industry is all about. Except for some self driven Polytechnic colleges rest are running a school delivering certificates.

Upgrading content vis-a-vis industry requirement is the key to maintaining ITI relevance.Trades are found in too many numbers as far as ITI education is concerned. It is high time review of similar trades be done & clubbed together to bring in more robustness in employment opportunities. Having unnecessary overlapping trades is doing no good either to the process or to the students or to the ITIs. Review by NCVT/SCVT is required to do away with trivial trades which have lost relevance.

ITI Infrastructure of Private ITIs requires drastic review. NCVT/SCVTs should appoint industry integrated committees to review Private ITI Manpower & Infra & if found below standards, should take up action on dercognizing them from conducting ITI. Commonly found trades are Fitter, Welder, Electrician etc. There are many trades which are not either propagated or employment opportunities are missing.Gap in demand supply of trades through ITIs need to be analyzed for better picture of employability

ITIs are running like mere day schools. The concept of practical exposure is missing in terms of value based education on state of the art trade requirement. Syllabi of ITIs are completely outdated. Thrust on basics are completely missing. Students are merely doing their ITI for certificate & with a presumption that they'll learn practical during Apprenticeship. So as a result quality of ITI education is not up to required standards.
