1) Divide the entire path Ganga flows to multiple sectors. Have owners for each sector.
2) Each owner will be given a set of tasks. He has to co-ordinate with the locals, saints, industry people to spread awareness (For up to 3 months)
3) Once awareness is made, enforce strict policies as below
a) Provide license for crematory. Other's will not be allowed to do this job
b) Strict measures on dumping industrial waste on Ganga
c) Request help from Sadhus/Saints to spread awareness

Dharm guru, sadhu sant should be mobilised to teach the public that pujan samagri should not be thrown into ganga. It is one of the reason of pollution of ganga. It should be done with the help of local government. Places shouldbe made in the towns where one can throw the pujan samagri. That place should be approved by local sant, temples and religious gurus. Religious guru should be approached at every level to prech the peoplefor not throwing the pujan samagri into rivers.

we can not clean the mighty ganga river by any method or technology that is used to clean the rivers in all around world bcoz it is not possible in india atleast.In india,if we want to clean ganga first we should do something about 1. industrial waste(main problem) and 2.Municipal sewage waste bcoz 80 % Domestic and sewage wastes are responsible to water pollution of Ganga. If we get rid of these problems then we can apply any technology to clean the existing pollution in ganga.

Further to my earlier posting- there are very low hanging fruits which can produce huge amount of the financial support and it may financially sufficient for the whole project.

Ganga has polluted very badly and needs very stringent laws and authorities to bring back GANGA GLORY. Ganga cleaning must not be stand alone but it shall be clubbed with, land recovery, de-siltation( reducing silt deposit/or silt in water),land recovery for new city development, connecting rail/roads with Jetties, increase acreage of forest, industrial development thus employment, development of Ganga for cargoes and passengers carrying. This project can be made self sufficient if given thot.

1. GoI must give technology, fund & manpower to all local bodies that are have drainage lines with Ganga. 2. Zero tolerance to industries for not treating their effluents. 3. The best tech team on solid waste management, effluent treatment, river cleaning methods must be employed. 4. Project implementation should not be sporadic. But, with clear vision and political will. 5. Participative approach - Govt/NGOs/Religious heads/common people 6. Extreme transparency and zero tolereance to corruption

Take water samples at every 100 KM initially and see which section of Ganga is most polluted. Once the major polluted areas are identified, then take samples at 1 - 10 KM to narrow down the most polluted areas. This narrows down to the most polluted areas and validation needs to be done on who or what factors cause these pollution.

Once this is identified then decide on actions depending on the factors of pollution.
