During the Rashtriya Ekta Divas address on 31st October, on the occasion of birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi announced that the Government of India proposes to launch a new initiative called ‘EK Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’. The programme aims to give a boost to the existing cultural connect between different parts of the country and enhance interaction between people living in different states.
Conceptually, the idea is that each year one state should connect to any other state in India on a reciprocal basis. As the Prime Minister himself explained through an example in his speech, "Haryana as a state can decide to connect with Tamil Nadu for the year 2016 and the activities that Haryana state can undertake may include popularizing the rich heritage of Tamil Nadu in Haryana through song festivals, book festivals, literary events, food festivals, tours of people of Haryana to Tamil Nadu and vice versa. In the year 2017, Haryana would connect to any other state and in 2018 to another state and so on".
The knowledge of the culture, traditions and practices of different states will lead to an enhanced understanding and bonding between each other thereby strengthening the unity and and integrity of India. The full address of the portion of the Prime Minister's speech, where he announced the scheme, can be accessed here.
We believe that such an initiative to connect people-to-people should be implemented with inputs from the citizens of India.
With this view, MyGov introduces the ‘EK Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ contest. Citizens are invited to submit their ideas and suggestions on how the programme should be structured so as to encapsulate its true spirit in all its various dimensions and capture the diversity that characterises India.
While the citizens are free to submit their ideas in kernel format, they can also expand in detail on the themes and sub-themes. Citizens may consider the following general themes on which to base their ideas, while submitting their entries. These themes are only indicative and participants are free to include any other points they deem appropriate.
1. Identifying role of central government and state governments in implementing the programme
2. Identifying the manner in which the governments, civil society and private sector can work together.
3. Specifying the Use of modern communication tools, including social media.
4. Documentation of success stories.
5. Making 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat' a people's movement rather than a government programme.
Participants are encouraged to submit original and innovative ideas. An idea, merely rich in detail but lacking originality, would not score more than a very innovative idea explained briefly. However, if a very innovative idea is also explained in detail, it will naturally score higher.
Participants may submit their entries as attached PDF documents while providing a summary of their proposals in the comment section.
The winners of the contest will be awarded a certificate by the Prime Minister, along with cash prizes as follows:
1. First Prize - Rs. 100,000/-
2. Second Prize - Rs. 75,000/-
3. Third Prize - Rs. 50,000/-
The last date for submission is 25th December, 2015.

Muje lagta hai ki scheme ke andar states apna application ka nam EK SHRESHTHA BHARAT rakhkar apne state ke culture ke anuroop tag line banakar ke, jaise UP apna application is tarah kare ki..." EK SHRESHTHA BHARAT- har jan ka sapna". Isi tarah sare state apna application dale r unhe unke tagline se jana jaye..jisse unke diversities ka bhi pata chale lekin suruwat ke teen shabd unke aim ko bataye...iske antargat har state ke district ke DM apne yaha se local culural events organise karaye.
I have attached one of the most innovative and creative ideas for EBSB initiative. I feel very proud to share my thoughts. Thank you.
Cultural centres at tehsil places with audio visual and books alongwith a qualified person should be set up.
School n college students should be spending two days a month there reading about another states culture and enjoying audiovisuals under guidance. After a few month of such sessions trips to the respective states should be planned. It will have a long lasting impact and breed a whole new generation with new understanding.
Short clips at movie theatres to educate adults would also help.

Marriages are the events where we find tradition culture food and dresses all at one place.
State govt should encourage state theme based marriage culture so that chef or dress designer interior designer from one state to other state can share their talents from one state to other states.
I have enclosed my opinion on EBSB(Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat
All the Great Religious Gurus Namely Sankaracharya Ramanujachraya and Madhwacharya were from South India. They spread the messages of Vedas,Upanishads and Puranas through their Commentaries on them.Now.. Boys and Girls should be made to tout entire India and Government should arrange tours and excursions to Various Historical Places and create Interest to know about India. and how it has come to the Present Stage.General Tourism among other sections.-should be encouraged.
My personal view is that the biggest gift we can give to Sh. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Ji is, that all states should come together and raise their voices in favour of “Linking of the rivers in India”. States should forget their pitty issues and come together for the prosperity and growth of the nation. By doing so we will be helping not only our farmers but each Indian shall be benefited by this. Making whole of the nation’s land linked by rivers will symbolize the Ek Bharat in true sense.
For the ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’ programme to become truly inter-people rather than being limited to inter-government exchanges, it is very important that the people of each state share the joys of the other, learn from the other and also help in addressing the challenges of the other state.
This can be very effectively done using mass media and social media. My ideas are focused on creating a pull factor for the programme among the people of each state. PDF attached.
Dr BR Ambedkar in his Book " Pakistan or Partition of India" said that an Emotional Philosophical Bond unites any Country. Hindu Religion and Hindu way of Life united People from Kashmir to Kanyakumarai form the days of Pre History.Political Unity. What ever may be other Defects British Rule brought political Unity to India. Now the Emotional and Philosophical Bonds should be strengthened among People of India. Ramayana,Mahabharata,Bhagavatha Purana were from North India.

The idea is that each year, one state should connect to any one state in India. Suppose Haryana as a state decides to connect with Tamil Nadu for year 2016, then students in Haryana schools will be taught at least 100 sentences of Tamil language.
They will be taught one song in Tamil. There can be food festival, tours of people of Haryana to Tamil Nadu and vice versa. In year 2017, Haryana would connect to any other state and in 2018 another state. This will bring understanding about India’s
