City
While the state government is planning to make Faridabad free from slums under various centrally- sponsored housing schemes for urban poor, Municipal Corporation of Faridabad (MCF) is yet to shift slum dwellers in nearly 2,800 flats built for them nearly five years back. And there seems to be no possibility in the near future that these flats are going to be occupied by those for whom they have been built. These dwelling units are to be provided with civic amenities.
Smart
Green Roofs/Terrace Harvesting- Rooftops, which take up a fifth of urban surface area, can be used to support solar panels or wind turbines, but they're otherwise underutilized. Covering the tops of buildings with grasses, shrubs and other plants can deliver a host of benefits. Though often more costly than traditional coverings, green roofs can provide insulation and trim a building's heating and cooling needs. They absorb rainwater, reducing the load on storm-water systems.
Waste to Resources -Getting to zero waste is as important to cities as getting to zero carbon. This doesn't mean just encouraging residents to recycle—cities also can deploy technologies to tap the energy and other valuable resources buried in the trash. Advanced anaerobic digesters process organic garbage waste and the sludge left over from treating wastewater to produce biogas, which can be burned for energy.
Solor Energy- We know that the majority of homeowners choose to go solar because it makes good sense from a financial point of view. That being said, the environmental benefits are also clearly worth mentioning. You can go a long way in lowering your carbon footprint by replacing utility power with clean electricity from solar panels.
