Van Mahotsav: Promoting Assam’s Plants

Out of the total 78,438 sq km of geographic area, the forest cover in Assam is around 35.83 sq km. The soil condition of the state support indigenous trees, which has medicinal properties, besides having a wide array of economic significance. Van Mahotsav, celebrated every year in the first week of July, aims at creating awareness on conservation of forests and plantation of trees among people. Introduced in 1950, this led to the plantation of millions of trees throughout the country. Forests, essential for our survival, also play a key role in water conservation.

मोदी सरकार ने किसानों के हित में एक ऐतिहासिक फैसला किया। सरकार ने 2018-19 के खरीफ की फसलों के लिए न्यूनतम समर्थन मूल्य को लागत का डेढ़ गुना या उससे अधिक बढ़ा दिया, अर्थात किसानों को अब अपनी फसल की लागत का डेढ़ गुना या इससे ज्यादा कीमत मिलेगी। माननीय प्रधानमंत्री श्री नरेंद्र मोदी की अध्यक्षता में 4 जुलाई को कैबिनट की हुई बैठक में ये फैसला लिया गया। उल्लेखनीय है कि बजट 2018-19 में सरकार ने किसानों से वादा किया था कि सरकार किसानों को फसलों की लागत का डेढ़ गुऩा मूल्य देगी। बजट में बेहतर आय सृजन के जरिए किसानों की आय बढ़ाने पर भी जोर दिया गया था। साथ ही, इस बजट में 2022 तक किसानों की आय दोगुनी करने के लक्ष्य को हासिल करने के लिए जरूरी कृषि नीति में बदलाव करने का संकेत भी दिया गया था।

The National Human Rights Commission, NHRC India, in the run up to its Silver Jubilee Celebrations, organized Logo design and Slogan/ Tagline writing Competitions, online through the “MyGov” portal in April, 2018 in order to seek people’s involvement and participation in the promotion and protection of human rights. A total of 893 entries were received for Logo Design and 4237 entries for Slogan/ Tagline from people of varied age groups and from different parts of the country.

The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF & CC), Government of India, the Global Host for World Environment Day, 2018, had conducted a contest for design of Logo for World Environment Day, 2018 to catch the attention on the theme of the World Environment Day, i.e. “Plastic Pollution”. The broad concern was to highlight the major environmental stress caused due to littering and unsafe disposals.
