A Smart City Idea Challenge was conceived and was promoted by the NMC across the City. A dedicated web-portal www.smartcitynagpur.com was developed and the citizens were encouraged to provide their ideas for making Nagpur a Smart City.
A Press Conference was held by Collector to Make Aware the Citizens about Smart cities initiative and gather support from citizens to build a Smart City Proposal.

On 16th Septeber 2015, Hon’ble Member of Legislative Assembly Vanamadi Kondababu, Member of Parliament Sri. Thota Narasimham addressed the Citizens of Kakinada about its selection in 100 Smart Cities and requested them to provide active participation in prepartion of Smart City Proposal.
