6. Experience needs time but exposure needs opportunity. during second year of college a student needs exposure of research/industry of his field of interest and what exactly industry doing and their expectation.
7. allot 10% to 15% of the credits to industry participation. here a student can go to industry or a industry person come to college to conduct 1 or 2 credit course.
8. youtube should be used for all type of analysis/design/conclusion. i don't know why most of the institution is not
The culture of research need to be inculcated in the DNA of the academics which is missing actually and just doing the formality for namesake by adopting cut copy paste philosophy.Kindly, initiate such steps which can motivate the present and attract the best potential to contribute the same. UGC and other academic bodies should make their policies student friendly regardless of age and other sort of discrimination of any type by adopting uniformity in policy formulation and governing guidelines
Promoting research and innovation
1. stop taking attendance at least in graduation level courses and beyond
2. fix the minimum uniform credits to get the bachelor and master degree
3. Enhance the lab/experiment/problem discussion credits
4. Make sure all bachelor and Master degree have common time period. like 4 yrs, 5 yrs bachelor for eng and medicine. by doing just bachelor we can not create great minds.
5. There should be a exposure at early age of college example in second year
Research in our country flourish only when prime talent will join this area. A student join research just to do something significant for nation and society, but during research period most of his/her time get consumed in thinking about job, which is very difficult to get in the field of science. Until and unless we ensure research scholars for their job we cannot get their maximum research output.
India is a great country. Why should we not have our own tradition of Research in everything--methodology, identification of Research Problem, models, examples and findings? Why should we unnecessarily borrow the western theories and apply them to our Research? Some feel that their Research would bear the stamp of scholarship only if it is replete with quotes from the western thinkers. Education and Research needs to be decolonized.
The practice of quoting irrelevant passages from the western texts and applying such theories to Indian scenario of education must be stopped. Why always Aristotle and why not Panini? Why always Shakespeare and why not Kalidasa? Why always Derrida and Faucault and why not Mammata and Abhinav Gupta.
5 cntd. Say we have lots of rivers, good solar radiation and lot of sea shore, can we take some energy from these sources effectively. We adopt these technologies from west, but I am not sure whether some research with our geographic and environmental background is happening?
6. Lack of good education at the fundamental level for the masses (Primary, Upper Primary and High school). Good education available at the cities, but feel not sufficient at villages to motivate the youngsters.
Taking into consideration the idea of quality-driven Research, we must rely on us. The usual practice in the academia is to drag the theories propounded by the western scholars and to bring home our own point relying on the imported theories of knowledge. Education, learning, Knowledge, Linguistics, Literature in Indian Languages, Economics-- all these areas must be reconsidered for what we aim at "Innovative Research".
Research projects should give more importance in post graduation programmes. A minimum amount of Research stipend can be given to the research projects doing in the colleges/universities as part of the PG programme.
4. Govt can provide incentives for that (meaning if a company have 10% with PhD degree) and show some substantial research output ( in terms of Indian patents, trade secrets, or as publication) then some tax relaxation can be given. Or some part of DST funding can be given to those working on that kind of problems.
5. Another thing which I feel is the lack of direction. Most of the research work happening in India is not trying to find solutions of problems specific to India.
