दुनिया भर में भारत फल और सब्जियों का दूसरा सबसे बड़ा उत्पादक है। लेकिन, हमारे देश में जल्दी खराब होने वाले उत्पादों के प्रसंस्करण की सुविधा चीन, ब्राजील, मलेशिया, वियतनाम, जैसे विकसित या विकासशील देशों की तुलना में बहुत कम है। देश में फल और सब्जियों के प्रसंस्करण के विकास में प्रमुख बाधाएं कुशल आपूर्ति श्रृंखला एवं आधुनिक और उपयुक्त बुनियादी सुविधा का उपलब्ध न होना है। परिणामस्वरूप, देश में फल एवं सब्जियों की अत्यधिक बर्बादी हो रही है जिसके फलस्वरूप किसानों को उनकी उपज के लिए पर्याप्त पारिश्रमिक नहीं मिल रहा। आईसीएआर संस्थान के केन्द्रीय कटाई-उपरांत अभियांत्रिकी और प्रौद्योगिकी संस्थान, लुधियाना, द्वारा किए गए एक अध्ययन के अनुसार विभिन्न कृषि फसलों की 6-18% तक बर्बादी होती है जिनमें सबसे जादा बर्बादी फल और सब्जियों की होती है।

खाद्य प्रसंस्करण उद्योग मंत्रालय इस नुकसान में कमी लाने हेतु आपके विचार / सुझाव चाहता है।

I can quote an example for milk "Amul" at Anand. Can we not start a society for veggies also? I do not the network of "SAFAL". Opening Training center at village to make pickles, food preservation, dehydrated vegetables also reduce the loss

1. There is a need to develop, energy efficient storage facility.
2. Since directly private sector will not come into this, so there could be incentive like tax benefit for some period.
3. it could be on PPP model also.
4. Urban cooperative society as is happening in case of cooperative banking, can also be given some model.
5. it is always wrong to say that farmer is the only sufferer, but urban population also have to give high prices because of this.

We need to develop advanced storage facilities, where farmers can store grains and or other produce. These need to be state run. Hence, Infrastructure for these units can be done in the following way. for every 3 villages, we can have a single point of storage facility. This will ensure that the food produced isn't wasted. As for the losses, we need to ensure that the farmer is reimbursed. How about a sovereign food fund that will use the black money from the corrupt to secure the farmer.

we need a large chain of cold storage I mean we should setup farm bank where farmer can deposit their crops after harvest when they get right price for their produce they can withdraw from farmbank just by paying some charge to the bank

Some of the losses can be reduced by
1.Form womens self help group in every village.
2.Preservation, processing of fruits, veg by modern & traditional techniques.
3.Pickle, pastes,juices ,powders ,salting techniques to be standardised and implemented.
4.Hygiene, quality to be monitored.
5.Can create a rural brand for nationwide coverage.
6.Online, door to door marketing of these products.
7.Use of green energy for such purpose.
8.It will increase rural incomes .
9.Cold storages.

Hon Prime Minister, Respected Sir. Our market not regulated also systems are not well set. We can do this,studying very good regulated markets. It only happens because We do not know How much produce We will get. If We set certain cropping pattern along with tech input, definitely we can set production levels of various crops. Automatically it will regulate the supply and demand ratio in markets. Presently markets are not performing there responsibility properly. no. of words limitation. stops.

Post harvest storage of Potato is a big concern as it requires quite low temperatures added with fumigation of chemicals which are harmful to individuals exposed to such fumigation. Alternates more effective and much less harmful are available but suffer from extension work as all this available knowledge has not reached farmers. Successful farm trials have been done by CPRI Jalandhar but there are no takers for extension work.

Mu idea is to increase value of farmer's produce by linking them directly to consumer and markets. If you value properly for produce, darmer also would value their produce and handle the product effectively. Post harvest losses are just a economical reasons. Tell me any one will every do postharvest loss of 25% in case of saffron which goes Rs 30000/kg? its commercial angle

Post harvest losses are nearly 25% in india. But there is a catch in this number. Actually these is no loss and nothing goes waste in India. Everything is sellable but only the problem is does not get right value. To me postharvest losses can be arrested only if we start paying right value to farmer's produce. Take example of Nagpur Orange -at the farm gate village near Nagpur santra prize is Rs 1.5/Santra. The same fruit can cost you Rs 10/santra at Mumbai market.

Now a days National Dairy Development Board providing bulk milk coolers to village dairies to avoid harvesting of milk.Like NDDB channel Govt has to make National Fruit & Vegetables Centre which works like collection of vegetables and fruits for storages as well as farmers can sells to Govt.
