रेल अधिनियम की धारा 161 के अनुसार “यदि किसी वाहन को चलाने वाला व्यतक्ति किसी क्रासिंग को लापरवाही से पार करता हुआ पाया गया तो उसे दण्डस्वरूप एक वर्ष तक का कारावास हो सकता है।”

मोटर वाहन अधिनियम की धारा 131 के अनुसार “प्रत्येक मोटर चालक किसी मानवरहित रेलवे क्रासिंग पर पहुंचने पर वाहन को रोकेगा और वहां उपस्थित कंडक्टवर, क्ली नर, सहायक या किसी अन्या व्य्क्ति के द्वारा यह सुनिश्चित करेगा कि किसी भी दिशा से कोई गाड़ी या ट्राली तो नहीं आ रहीं है, और सुनिश्चित हो जाने के बाद ही वाहन को क्रासिंग से पार ले जाएगा तथा ऐसी स्थिति में जहां कंडक्टेर, क्लीकनर, सहायक या कोई अन्य व्यकक्ति उपलब्धक नहीं हो वहां चालक स्वयं उतर कर यह सुनिश्चित करेगा कि किसी भी दिशा से कोई गाड़ी या ट्राली नहीं आ रही हो।”
आवागमन के लिए सड़क का प्रयोग करने वाले लोग क्योंकि नियमों का पालन नहीं करते हैं जिसके परिणामस्वकरूप अधिक दुर्घटनाएं हो रही हैं और इन दुर्घटनाओं में अनेक लोगों के अनमोल जीवन की हानि हो रही है।

All the unmanned crossing should be made either underway or an overbridge should be constructed. Initial cost may be high, but will relieve railway from the management of crossing.

Unmanned Level Crossing should be made in "Z" shape and there should not be any obstruction by trees so that the vehicles can see that train is approaching. Also there may be BUMP on both side before the gate.
During winter when there is fog when visibility is very poor an auto alarm may be set when the train is about 500 meters away.

As mentioned in Railway act section 131,the matter is clear, regarding how to pass a road vehicle through an unmanned gate. The cause of accidents in such gates are only due to the ignorance and bustle of road vehicle drivers. Any how it is not possible to provide over bridges or under bridges in every such areas. But after a thorough study if the traffic through the gate is not more to a prescribed value (which is determined by railways and Rto) such gate may be eliminated.

i think our railway is least secure in our country
no security personnel is serious at railway system they are negligent to the happening on the platform
we need to think is only metro passangers are paying money beacase we can see the level of security at metro compared with railway station

I do not understand why this should happen at all. We are a very large country but our population is also the second largest. We should first and foremost man all the level crossings. Instead of spending money on other issues of minor importance, these issues should be prominent on the agenda. Encroachment on the railway lines should also be banned. It the people still do not listen then, the government is not responsible. We cannot, must not and should no compromise on EVERYTHING.

As a first step towards accident free road transportation, all public transport and mass transport driving license holder must be called every year for dirivng skill tests by special cell of RTOs. These tests must evaluate the level of drivers abilities in terms of undestanding the road safety measures. Those who are identified as prone to accident events, must be upgraded with necessary driving skills.
This will resolve all road accidents caused due to unawareness of road safety skills.

Least Dependence on Human Intervention replacing it with Technology is an option. Installing RF or through beam sensors with rumbling blocks before the crossing, will obviate 2,3 and 4 wheeler accidents. The Sensors are akin to the RFID sensors used on ETC Toll Booths and are placed about 50 meters before each crossing. Output is automatically linked to the Gate opening and closing. If there is any object moving in the range of the sensors the gate will close automatically.

1. Use safety mirrors at un-manned level crossings-see attachment
2. Have speed breakers so that the vehicle driver is bound to reduce the speed to safe limit. The on coming train should blow long whistle (horn).
3. Have safety signs with importance on ones life thus discouraging unwanted adventurous risks.
4. Conduct periodic safety week for the people using the un-manned Level crossings either by local police or social organizations. Importance should be on ones life rather than on penalty.
