The State Transport Authority (STA), U.T., Chandigarh has initiated a citywide enforcement campaign against the illegal and pollution causing vehicles, especially diesel auto-rickshaws that had been plying in the city. This drive had been initiated in the entire city to take a firm step towards creating a pollution free environment in the city, keeping in mind the larger public health concerns of the residents.

As per the latest data submitted by the Chandigarh Pollution Control Committee (CPCC), there has been a significant decline in the various pollutants including SPM, RSPM, SO2, and NOx in various places of Chandigarh being monitored by CPCC over the past two weeks, ever since the drive was started by the State Transport Authority.

Meanwhile, to facilitate passenger movement, Chandigarh Administration is also strengthening its public transport system, by increasing the number & frequency of buses of the Chandigarh Transport Undertaking (CTU) and also enhancing their routes.

In view of this recent anti-pollution campaign of the State Transport Authority, Chandigarh Administration hereby invites citizens of Chandigarh to tell us what is their opinion about the banning of illegal and pollution causing diesel auto-rickshaws in Chandigarh. Further, suggestions/ideas are invited from the residents to help us ensure that a clean and pollution free air is provided in the City Beautiful.

If you really wants to develop india than connect all small villages with metro. In japan they have 7 layer in railway and we have this much load but we have only one layer in our railway. We should develop 7 floors in railway first floor for express train second layer for intercity. Like we have develop highway one above one

Many people in Chandigarh are having ailing health and they do not own more than one car and they have heart ailments or palpitation problems if they happen to walk on foot. I do vomit when ever I walk on foot or try to move on bicycle/even cant bear the exertion of riding two wheeler as whenever I TRY TO REMOVE THE MAIN STAND OF MY TWOWHEELER I FEEL VOMITING/PAIN IN HEART. MY DAILY COMMUTAION IS ESSENTIAL TO CONSUME JUICE FROM VENDER TO REMAIN ALIVE.I CANT PARTICIPAE IN ODD/ EVEN CAR DRIVE.

Anybody who truly loves Chandigarh can not be against ban on deisel autos. They not only pollute but also are a major cause of frequent traffic snarls and accidents. The unscrupulous autodrivers also ,illegaly, indulge in stage transport. Every nook and cranny is used for parking and every slip road is laced with autos. They overload and compromise safety of the passengers and fellow commuters. Safety of the public at large can't be held hostage for mere convenience of a handful. Hail STA.

Thirdly, if you talk of common but differentiated responsibility globally for climate change, then according to that private SUV and luxury cars who cause more pollution and traffic congestion should be forbidden for any new registration rather than depriving the poor auto and taxi driver from his livelihood. The situation is alarming and if such arbitrary and unjust misuse of power and malafide policies are practiced then India's reputation of license raj quota and corruption will remain.

Dear Sir, people have lost faith in the administration and the government of the day who are stealing their hard earned money and filling their coffers through challans. Secondly there are 15 lakh vehicles in chandigarh, but why are the authorities only after challaning 20 thousand commercial vehicles who are actually making people move across cities conveniently and safely .
