Hi! My name is chinmayee pattnayak. My mascot is inspired by Sarus Crane, a tall and graceful bird native to India. I choose this specific bird because of it's natural characteristics that somehow represents the important value of NHAI. The Crane's tall stature represent vision and looking towards the future while it's long stride symbolizes progress and continuous movement. The Sarus Crane is also closely associated with natural ecosystems, representing NHAI’s commitment towards sustainable infrastructure and harmony between development and the environment. Its strength, adaptability and graceful movement represent resilience and innovation. The roads and bridges incorporated into the composition represent NHAI’s role in connecting different parts of India and supporting the movement of people, goods and opportunities. I created this mascot as an original artwork using ibisPaint X, a digital drawing and painting application. The artwork was drawn manually by me and was not generated using an AI tool.

Paryavaran Mitra is NHAI’s futuristic visual ambassador, embodying innovation, road safety, and sustainable nation-building. The robotic build signifies smart highway infrastructure, while the high-visibility gear highlights commuter protection. Green leaf accents represent eco-friendly corridors and mass afforestation. The design is versatile, scalable, and optimized for digital platforms, print, and public awareness campaigns.

RAAHI is designed as a friendly and approachable highway companion representing NHAI’s role in connecting people, places and opportunities across India. The mascot features a road-inspired grey body with a yellow centre-line, giving it a distinctive highway identity. Its expressive eyes and cheerful smile make it relatable and suitable for public campaigns, road-safety awareness and digital communication. RAAHI wears an NHAI-branded cap and high-visibility orange safety vest, reflecting the visual language of highway workers and reinforcing the themes of safety and responsibility. The thumbs-up gesture conveys confidence and reassurance, while the “Drive Safe” sign clearly communicates its road-safety purpose. The blue, yellow, orange, grey and white colour palette complements NHAI’s identity while giving the mascot a modern and energetic appearance. The green, well-maintained highway environment represents sustainability, connectivity and infrastructure development. The name RAAHI, along with “Your Highway Companion,” gives the character a warm and memorable identity. The message “Building a Nation, Not Just Roads” captures the larger vision—highways as a means of connecting communities, creating opportunities and contributing to nation-building.
