Artificial Intelligence and semiconductors are increasingly two sides of the same coin. AI models are pushing the demand for faster, more efficient,and more specialized chips, while advances in semiconductor design and manufacturing are what make new AI capabilities possible in the first place. This creates a self-reinforcing cycle,better hardware enables more powerful AI, and AI in turn is now being used to optimize chip design, fabrication, and testing.
Looking ahead, some promising directions at this intersection include energy-efficient edge AI chips that allow intelligence to run directly on devices rather than relying on cloud infrastructure, AI-assisted chip design tools that shorten development cycles and reduce manufacturing errors, and domain-specific processors (NPUs, AI accelerators) tailored for particular workloads rather than general-purpose computing.
For India specifically, building strength in this space will require parallel investment in semiconductor fabrication
