1 day 3 hours ago
Meet Bha-Mil (भा-मिल), a mascot bridging India’s wayfinding heritage with a smart, sustainable future. The name thoughtfully fuses Bharat (India) and Milan (Connection) with the classic highway Milestone.
Visually, Bha-Mil’s core takes the familiar shape of a yellow-and-white milestone, representing reliable guidance and trust. This foundation is modernized by a friendly digital face and communication antennas, highlighting NHAI’s shift toward tech-driven, smart highways.
In its hand, a smart tablet displaying India's map symbolizes seamless pan-India connectivity, while the flowing road-marked cape gives Bha-Mil a dynamic, protective presence.
Safety is paramount: the high-visibility "Road Safety First" vest and red first-aid kit reflect an unwavering commitment to traveler well-being. Finally, Bha-Mil is built for the future. Rugged tire-boots signify continuous progress and smooth motion across diverse terrains, while solar panels integrated into its limbs champion green, eco-friendly infrastructure.
Approachable and highly adaptable, Bha-Mil is the ultimate companion - connecting Bharat safely, one milestone at a time.

NHAI Mitra – A Friendly Guardian of India’s Highways
I designed NHAI Mitra as a friendly and approachable mascot that represents the people working behind India’s highways and the vision of NHAI to create safe, reliable and seamless connectivity across the nation.
The mascot wears a yellow safety helmet, representing protection, responsibility and road safety. The orange high-visibility jacket with reflective strips represents the dedication of highway workers and the importance of safety on every road.
The friendly smile makes NHAI Mitra welcoming and easy to connect with, while the thumbs-up gesture represents confidence, trust and the message that every journey should be safe and smooth.
Through its simple and clear design, NHAI Mitra aims to become a recognisable visual ambassador for NHAI. The mascot can be used to communicate important messages about road safety, safe driving, highway awareness and India’s infrastructure development.
NHAI Mitra represents the idea that highways are not only roads that connect places—they also connect people, opportunities and the future of India.

RAAHI: The Highway Companion
Raahi, meaning a traveller, is designed as the friendly “Highway Companion” of NHAI. She represents the idea that a highway is not just a road, but a connection that supports people throughout their journeys.
Her road-inspired ponytail is the main visual element of the mascot. The flowing road with lane markings represents seamless connectivity, movement and progress, while its continuous form reflects NHAI’s role in connecting people, places and opportunities across India. Her welcoming gesture represents guidance, assistance and trust, making her approachable for people of all ages.
The NHAI-inspired sling bag connects Raahi directly with the organisation and symbolises the support and information that travellers can rely on during their journey. Her wheeled shoes represent modern mobility, innovation and the changing face of India’s highway network.
The simple blue and yellow colour palette conveys trust, reliability, optimism and progress. Her clean, friendly form is designed to remain recognisable in both colour and monochrome and to work across digital platforms, print, awareness campaigns, events and merchandise.
Raahi is more than a mascot; she represents NHAI’s commitment to making every journey connected, safe, reliable and future-ready.

Webbing India – Representing 28 States and 8 Union Territories
The core idea behind the “WEBBING INDIA” design is to symbolize the strength, connectivity and unity of India’s vast transportation network.
Nationwide Interconnectivity: Like an intricate web that connects every point, NHAI’s highway network links the four corners of the nation—North, South, East, and West—creating seamless connectivity across India.
The Master Architect: The spider represents precision, resilience, and continuous creation, reflecting NHAI’s role as the master builder and weaver of India’s modern infrastructure.
Flow of Life & Economy: The web symbolizes the continuous movement of vehicles, routes, and communication, highlighting the essential flow of trade, travel, and economic activity that unites India’s diverse regions.
Strength in Networked Unity: Just as individual strands come together to form a strong and resilient web, interconnected roads collectively create a faster, safer, more efficient, and integrated transportation network for the nation.
