The Income Tax Department, Ministry of Finance, Government of India, in collaboration with MyGov, invites innovative ideas and constructive suggestions from citizens, taxpayers, professionals, businesses, students, and other stakeholders to strengthen taxpayer services and contribute towards building a more transparent, efficient, and taxpayer-friendly tax administration. This participatory initiative provides a platform to share practical ideas for enhancing taxpayer awareness, simplifying compliance processes, improving digital taxpayer services, and promoting ease of compliance.

Suggestions may also focus on strengthening service delivery, leveraging emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), improving grievance redressal mechanisms, enhancing taxpayer education and outreach, and introducing innovative solutions to improve the overall taxpayer experience. Your valuable ideas will contribute towards making tax administration more accessible, technology-driven, citizen-centric, and responsive, while supporting the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 through better public service delivery, participatory governance, and greater taxpayer trust.

Option 1 – Easy Tax Filing:The Government can make tax filing easier by providing an AI assistant in all major Indian languages. This will help taxpayers file returns correctly and confidently. Option 2 – Reward Honest Taxpayers:Introduce a recognition programme for taxpayers who file returns on time every year. This will encourage more people to pay taxes honestly. Option 3 – Tax Awareness:Conduct free tax awareness programmes in colleges and villages to help citizens understand taxes, digital payments, and the benefits of timely tax filing. Option 4 – My Tax, My Nation:Create a simple dashboard where taxpayers can see how their tax contributions support roads, schools, hospitals, and other public services. This will increase trust and encourage voluntary tax compliance.

Property Registry Integration: Integrate all land and property registries with PAN/Aadhaar (with privacy safeguards) and introduce mandatory property KYC, similar to bank KYC. This will improve ownership transparency, reduce land disputes, curb black money in real estate, and ensure proper tax collection. Trusted Taxpayer Rewards: Introduce a reward program for honest taxpayers through priority government services, faster approvals, or redeemable digital points. Recognizing compliant taxpayers will encourage voluntary tax compliance. GST Reporting: Develop a functional portal/app for citizens to report businesses that do not issue GST bills. Every complaint should be trackable,evidence-based,and resolved within fixed timelines to reduce tax evasion and corruption. AI for Tax Administration: Use AI to detect tax fraud, identify suspicious transactions, assist taxpayers through multilingual virtual assistants, and improve grievance resolution, making tax administration more efficient

      1) For Middle Class, we are paying tax and also the GST. This should be rationalized by giving the credit of GST on individual PAN number while purchasing any items. At year end, this accumulation of GST can be offset with the income tax (if not fully than may be some part of GST may be offset with the income tax). In this way Government can also ensures 100% billing from all the Vendors and Vendors will be forced to issue the bills. 2) The Middle Class is paying income tax, GST and also the tax on the interest on money lying in his saving account. Once I have paid the tax then it should be will of tax payer whether he invest or keep in saving account. The tax on interest on saving account should be removed. There could be many reasons for any tax payer to keep liquid in his saving account. 3) In new labour law, there is no upper limit on HRA. This should be removed so that it is not misused. 4) Contribution in Voluntary PF should be exempted in new tax regime.

Implement algorithmic, rule-based systems that cross-reference data (like Aadhaar, criminal databases, and address registries) in real-time to issue standard documents instantly upon application.

Instead of viewing taxes as just a payment, imagine them as seeds that grow into schools, hospitals, clean cities, modern transport, and scientific progress. A future-ready tax system should make every taxpayer feel like a partner in building the nation, not just a contributor. The purpose of "Taxpayer First: Ideas for the Future" is to create a future where taxpayers are respected, informed, and rewarded for their contribution to society. It encourages innovative ideas that make taxation simple, trustworthy, and meaningful while showing citizens exactly how their taxes improve everyday life. A taxpayer-first approach builds confidence, increases voluntary compliance, and strengthens the relationship between citizens and the government, leading to a more developed, inclusive, and prosperous nation. Closing by saying that "When taxpayers come first, the future comes first. Every honest contribution becomes a brick in the foundation of a stronger, smarter, and more sustainable nation."..

Title: Proposal for Taxpayer Recognition and Compliance Initiative While public revenue rightly prioritizes welfare and infrastructure, direct individual returns on tax payments often feel abstract to citizens. I propose an Individual Impact Recognition Initiative to foster civic pride and encourage voluntary compliance through non-monetary recognition. Key Features: Quantified Impact Statements: Digital certificates/banners illustrating specific contributions (e.g., "Proudly funded healthcare for 100 individuals" or "Contributed to Atal Setu"). Recognition Tokens: Opt-in merchandise (apparel, pins) for compliant taxpayers. Positive Framing: Celebrating tax compliance as direct nation-building. This cost-effective initiative enhances the Tax Department’s image, improves goodwill, and serves as a behavioral nudge for tax evaders.

Leverage the existing DigiLocker and India Stack infrastructure to verify data automatically at the source, eliminating the need for physical counter visits or manual file verification.
