The highway-themed shield symbolizes protection and secure mobility, while the road elements highlight NHAI’s role in connecting people and opportunities across the country. The mascot embodies the vision of “Safe Roads, Stronger India.”

Concept Note — ROLO: Rolling India Forward
When we think of NHAI, one of the first images that comes to mind is heavy construction machinery working across India’s diverse terrains to build and strengthen our road network. This became the primary inspiration for Rolo—a friendly personification of a road roller and excavator, transforming the machines behind India’s highways into a relatable character.
The road roller forms Rolo’s foundation, symbolising strong, smooth and reliable highways, while the excavator-inspired hand represents engineering, innovation and the spirit of nation-building. Rolo’s approachable face and human-like gestures make infrastructure more relatable, while the safety helmet represents road safety, responsibility and trust.
The character’s simple, bold and adaptable form is designed for public awareness campaigns, digital platforms, animation, events, print and merchandise. Its road-inspired visual language represents seamless connectivity, while the construction elements reflect the continuous development of India’s infrastructure and its diverse terrains.

Designed with soft, rounded contours and a compact silhouette, YAALOOO is crafted for effortless visual recall at highway speeds. The character adopts a distinct, softer red palette that pops against grey tarmac while offering a calming, friendly presence to ease travel fatigue across busy corridors.
Intentionally designed without typography or logos on its body, YAALOOO relies purely on character charisma to build lasting cultural recall—evolving into an enduring national icon much like the Amul Girl. From toll plazas to wayside amenities, YAALOOO stands as India’s modern highway sentinel: welcoming travelers, promoting road safety, and guiding every journey with a smile.

The milestone is transformed into the mascot’s head, with its characteristic shape retained and creatively adapted into a friendly character. The top portion of the milestone is stylised as a cap, giving the mascot a recognisable Indian highway identity while making it approachable and memorable. The NHAI logo is creatively transformed into the mascot’s body. Rather than simply placing the logo on the character, its form becomes an integral part of the body structure. This makes the mascot visually connected to NHAI while maintaining a distinct character design.

RAAHI is inspired by the people who give India’s highways their true purpose..the travellers.
The name RAAHI, meaning “a traveller,” represents every person who uses the National Highways: families, drivers, workers, transporters and commuters. The mascot is designed as a friendly and responsible highway companion, making important messages on road safety easier to understand and remember.
Its visual elements draw inspiration from the National Highway ecosystem, combining the spirit of modern infrastructure with safety and responsibility. RAAHI represents alertness on the road, respect for traffic rules and care for fellow travellers.
As India builds faster and more connected highways, the responsibility of ensuring safer journeys becomes equally important. RAAHI connects these two ideas—progress and protection.
The mascot also supports the larger vision of Viksit Bharat, where world-class infrastructure is supported by responsible road behaviour, innovation and public awareness.
