The Income Tax Department invites constructive suggestions from citizens, taxpayers, professionals, businesses, and other stakeholders to strengthen its Citizen Charter and make it more transparent, citizen-centric, accessible, and responsive to the evolving needs of taxpayers.

The Citizen Charter reflects the Department's commitment towards delivering quality taxpayer services by defining service standards, timelines, taxpayer rights, and responsibilities. As part of its continuous efforts to improve taxpayer experience in line with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, the Department seeks practical suggestions and innovative ideas to further enhance the Citizen Charter.

Suggestions may be submitted on, but are not limited to, the following areas:

      • Improving taxpayer services and service standards.
      • Simplifying taxpayer interactions with the Income Tax Department.
      • Enhancing transparency, accountability, and service delivery.
      • Strengthening grievance redressal mechanisms.
      • Improving accessibility for senior citizens, women, persons with disabilities, and first-time taxpayers.
      • Promoting digital service delivery and ease of compliance.
      • Making the Citizen Charter easier to understand through simplified language and better communication.
      • Any other suggestions that can make the Income Tax Department more citizen-friendly, efficient, and responsive.

Your valuable suggestions will contribute towards strengthening taxpayer services, promoting trust, and building a transparent, efficient, and citizen-centric tax administration.

Respected Sir/Madam, The Income Tax Citizen Charter should be written in simple and easy language so every taxpayer can understand it without difficulty. The Department should clearly mention service timelines for refunds, grievance resolution, and responses to taxpayer queries. A real-time tracking system for complaints and requests should also be available on the portal. Special support should be provided for senior citizens, women, persons with disabilities, and first-time taxpayers through dedicated helpdesks and multilingual assistance. AI-based chat support and step-by-step guidance can make tax services easier and faster. Regular awareness campaigns through social media, colleges, and local workshops can improve tax knowledge and encourage voluntary compliance. These improvements will make the Income Tax Department more transparent, citizen-friendly, and efficient while strengthening public trust and supporting the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.

To make the Income Tax Department’s Citizen Charter more simple, transparent, and citizen-friendly, the focus should be on clarity, trust, and ease of use. The charter should be written in very simple language so that even a first-time taxpayer can easily understand their rights, responsibilities, and the services available. A digital dashboard can be created where people can clearly see timelines for each service, like refunds, grievance resolution, or document processing, so there is full transparency. The system should also provide real-time updates and notifications so taxpayers are always informed. To make interactions easier, a guided system using AI can help users step-by-step while filing returns or raising requests, reducing confusion and mistakes. Special support should be given to first-time taxpayers, senior citizens, and differently-abled people through simple interfaces, voice support, and help in regional languages.

To All capable officers Concern with this citizen charter suggestion drive Respected Sir/Madam Tax collection, specially income tax, must be more and more compulsory, those who commit tax evasion should be punished. The government should also keep its Income Tax Return (ITR) filing portal open throughout the year. All tax related information should be available in clear language with step by step guidance and video tutorials. Grievances should be resolved within fixed timelines through an online tracking system. A single helpdesk with phone chat and email support should assist taxpayers especially for new taxpayers and senior citizens. The portal should be mobile friendly secure and accessible for persons with disabilities.

Hello minister of finance:- I suggest The Income Tax Department's Citizen Charter can be improved by making it simpler, more transparent, and easier to access. Information should be available in plain language and multiple Indian languages to help all taxpayers. A unified online dashboard should allow users to track refunds, grievances, and service requests in real time. AI-based guidance can assist first-time taxpayers in filing returns correctly. Special support should be provided for senior citizens, women, and persons with disabilities through accessible services and priority assistance. Faster grievance resolution with regular status updates and taxpayer feedback will strengthen trust, improve compliance, and enhance overall taxpayer satisfaction.
