Pathfinder is an original mascot designed as a friendly guardian of India’s connected journeys, embodying NHAI’s commitment to seamless connectivity, road safety, innovation, trust, sustainability and nation-building. Its distinctive blue form represents reliability and public trust, while the flowing yellow and green accents symbolize movement, safety and sustainable progress. The character’s unique branching ears are inspired by highways that divide, merge and connect, while also echoing the structural rhythm of bridges and interchanges. Its sweeping tail follows the visual language of a winding expressway, representing continuous journeys and direction. The wayfinding staff combines the symbolism of a route marker and a guiding sign, representing safe passage, progress and guidance. The utility attire reflects readiness, responsibility and service, while its confident yet approachable expression makes Pathfinder suitable for public awareness campaigns and audiences of all ages. Designed with a silhouette and adaptable visual elements, the mascot can translate effectively across digital platforms, print media, merchandise, animation, banners, communication and a wearable mascot costume, while remaining recognizable in both colour and monochrome.

MASCOT NAME: VASUDHA (वसुधा ) Concept Note: Vasudha meaning "Earth" represents the core idea of NHAI of connecting all people, places and connecting India. Vasudha wears an engineering cap representing the high-end engineering of NHAI, a yellow onsie with straps replaced by roads to symbolise highways and roads to represent the core idea of Mascot. Over-all Vasudha fits as NHAI mascot as it's easily understandable to all, can be interpreted as NHAI mascot in one glance due to the engineering cap and road strapped onsie. Also as mentioned earlier Vasudha ie earth here represents connecting every point, place and people through high end highways, roads. Thank you

The name itself was a deliberate choice: "Sakhi" evokes a warm, relatable companion rather than a distant institutional symbol, making road safety feel personal and approachable to citizens of all ages. Character Design Choices The green-and-blue striped helmet and high-visibility safety jacket directly reference the attire of real road-safety and traffic personnel, grounding the character in familiarity and authenticity for a mascot competition rather than pure fantasy. The reflective yellow striping reinforces the safety-first identity at a glance, even in small-scale reproduction. The Cape: The flowing green cape elevates the character from an informational mascot to a protector figure—a small visual cue that positions road safety as an active, heroic responsibility rather than a passive rule to follow. The Digital Tablet: Placed in the mascot's hand, this represents NHAI's growing digital and data-driven approach to highway management and safety monitoring, signaling that the organization's work extends beyond physical infrastructure into modern, tech-enabled governance. I have chosen the Sacred Krishnamrig or Black buck as the mascot of the NHAI. This is the best possible candidate since it is the fastest animal which originated in India. It is a nationally famous symbol, and considered sacred to the Bishnoi community and is also considered to be a patron of safe speed, being a Vahan or mount for the wind god Vayu. It is a recognisable animal across various generations and the best messenger to promote safe movement and speed across the country. It can be used in coloured or monochrome formats and is instantly recognisable with the safety jacket and Ashok Chakra adorned safety hat.
